Warner Bros would not disclose the amount of the donation and did not make an official announcement. The studio said today it was working with the Colorado Governor’s office and the funds would be donated through givingfirst.org, part of Colorado’s Community First Foundation. 12 people were killed and dozens injured when a gunman opened fire Friday during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado.

That’s actually pretty cool of them to do. They don’t have to….but they are going to, and that’s pretty cool.
Let’s just hope that the loser prick that did this suffers.
this is an awesome thing that WB is doing….this was a tragic event that took place, they need the help…i bet you its a good amount!!!
Not a bad idea…
That and they could also put up a website or texting number to alert people of a donation site dedicated to the victims, after their Dark Knight (or other) TV Spots.
I think there main concern is with the victims not whether people see the film, your idea would make it seem like they are trying to make a profit. This is really a great decision by Warner Bros. It’s really great to know that humanity does exist.
Well give you 0.0000 1% of the net when it comes out of the red.
The NRA needs to make a donation.
Will the NRA donate too? That would make more sense.
Yeah, as though throwing money at the situation is the answer. Not impressed.
I’m sick and tired of how this country thinks that money is the only answer.
Tell that to the family Medley family. While his wife is in the same hospital with their newborn, Caleb is racking up what they expect will be a 2 million dollar bill, and may never be able to work again.
Agree with you, wendy. People who complain about donations have clearly never had to worry about money. Money isn’t everything, but it helps, regardless.
Yeah, it seems like a stand alone ad, just mentioning the donation site, would be better than having it attached in anyway with the advertising of the movie. Having it at the end of the movie ad would seem really crass. In fact if there is anyway to have it at least 1 ad away from any other Time Warner ad would be nice, but I realize they have so many businesses that might be really tough. But don’t have it follow or lead into a Dark Knight Rises ad at least.
I think they were wrong for this. They were not responsible, and doing this plays into the idea that anything or anyone other than that idiot was to blame.
Of course its the right thing to do… I think they can spare the change in this case.
Image is everything. While this is a very sad event. It’s obvious that this a strategic business movie. Companies will go to any length to preserve their image.
My prayers to the victims and their families.
RIP.
It’s nice that WB did this considering they too are a victim. They have the name of their film/character associated with the terrible act of someone who is trying to make himself seem crazy even though no crazy person could have been as thorough in plotting out his plot. I mean he went so far as to post on dating sites for people to visit him in prison shortly before his actions. Warner should sue for copyright infringement for him stating he was “the joker” as well as damages for the effect he had on ticket sales. Sure they will never see money from the sicko but it will give him one more legal issue he needs to deal with.
Have you seen a TV spot for the film since the shooting happened? I sure haven’t.
