EXCLUSIVE: With Biblical epics the rage in Hollywood, here’s another. Will Smith is eyeing a film about battling brothers Cain and Abel as his directorial debut. The project is set at Sony in development and is being produced by Overbrook Entertainment. This has been in the arsenal for some time, and won’t be Smith’s next film, but it is an intriguing development for the actor and producer. The project has gone under the working title of The Redemption Of Cain, but I’ve confirmed that it’s now being developed as directing vehicle for Smith, who’ll likely star in the film as well.
This comes as Darren Aronofsky starts production with Russell Crowe on Noah, and both Steven Spielberg and Ridley Scott have Moses projects percolating.

Why do you intend on reading into the Genesis account? What sources do you have about Lucifer introducing his seed into Eve? And where do you have the account of any child of this supposed relation when it states that Adam knew Eve and she conceived Gen. 4.1 Please respond.
LifeShort, read the scriptures. Sin is passed down through the seed of the man, not the woman. “As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” That’s why Christ was without a sinful nature like ours, it is passed through the seed of man, and Mary was not made pregnant by the seed of man but by the power of the Holy Spirit who can bring life out of dust! And Adam was not out “golfing with the gorillas,” Genesis 3: “She also gave some to her husband, who was WITH HER, and he ate it.” He was passively there, watching as the whole thing happened and never stepped in to intercede with or for his wife.
Several posts I’d like to respond to and since many of my replies would be similar, I’ll try to catch what I can in this and just a few other replies. There are some incredibly thoughtful messages here and regardless of their view, it shows that many of us have that little voice/trigger that gets our attention regarding who we are how we got here what we are supposed to do and where we are going. It’s a fantastic beautiful experience we are all in, regardless of our circumstances, health, abilities or disabilities. Life.
Roscoe, Oh No! Never meant that Satan had the ability to father or produce a child. Angels and Demons cannot reproduce themselves and certainly not humans. Only God the Creator can do that. Because they cannot do that, they both are closely entwined with humanity for different reasons! Good Angels are “transformers” under direction from God to help humanity and each of us has been assigned a “guardian angel” that we can ask for help, that people can ask specific help of another person’s guardian angel to help the child/person they are assigned to guard. Angels are transformers in that they can take the form of a human for a specific event, increasing their ability to help/warn their charges. Scripture warns us to be good to others as we may be “entertaining” or engaging with Angels, and be unaware or not knowing it. We will see our Guardians and the good guardians will be with us throughout our eternities in heaven. Scripture tells that humans will judge the angels… we know that all guardian angels either don’t fight for us or give in to the opposition attacking us. The Fallen Angels which are Satan’s troops, are working hard to capture our lives and use us for their purposes which is to own our souls after death. The reason the dark angel demons work to capture us is that there will be a final fight for power that they want to win and they try to build their troops, their army, their legions of evil by adding humans to do evil on earth and to stand with them at the end. We all experience flexing of our choice muscles every day. Since childhood, many of us who have seen old cartoons, have seen this conflict represented by a little angel on the shoulder whispering in a human’s ear to do good things, and a little red devil with horns and pitchfork on the other telling the human the opposite choice. Choice.
No child is of, or belongs to, Satan or anything evil. Babies are born innocent and pure souls, as close to perfection as we can get here on earth, much closer to God than you and me, and scripture puts them on that level saying that their Angels (guardians can be in many places at the same time) are constantly before the face of God. Human babies do carry the ding that Satan stained on every human by his contact with Eve, which is erased by Baptism through a parent’s choice performed by a Christian minister, or later in life by their own choice to be Baptised. By whatever means Satan managed to damage us, it was accomplished through Eve. We know he damaged her seed (eggs) which passed on to all females because Scripture tells that God “reserved” one of Eve’s seed/egg and that one was passed on through generations and born as Mary who was NOT stained by Satan’s smear, which made Mary’s egg/seed pure, without stain and that baby was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born without stain as Jesus the Christ. More to say but want to put these views in smaller packages that I hope are of interest, and you can strengthen or prove too fragile. Cain and Abel are not a retelling of the Prometheus myth. The Bible story was recorded hundreds of years before the Prometheus myth came about.
Lucifer was not “light bringer.” He was, originally, the angel of light, who became the father of lies; if anything, he is the “darkness bringer.”
The Bible is given credence because it is proven to have been written outside of time; history written in advance. The hundreds of detailed prophecies written hundreds of years before they became true give all the credence that is needed. It is the myths and false gods who counterfeit the stories recorded in the Bible.

Friend your theology is horribly flawed. God gave Eve to Adam and told them to multiply before they ever faced the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Sex was not bad and had nothing to do whatsoever with the fall of man. Read the bible, it tells you Eve was deceived. Paul the apostle later tells you that while Eve was deceived Adam was not. Adam chose to disobey God by letting Eve be deceived. Adam betrayed his wife and God. That is the fall of man. Choosing personal knowledge, the ability to discern right from wrong without God. In effect placing themselves in the seat of God. That is their downfall. The tree of knowledge was real, its just as real as the other tree that they were allowed to eat from but chose not to. The tree of life. That tree exists to this day in heaven. It is on both sides of the river of life.

The recorders of the word(in this case Moses)did not tiptoe around the subject of sex. It was covered graphically in every subject including conception, consumation, rape, incest, adultry, prostatution, homosexuality, and even contraception. First of all Lucifer is not the name of this Fallen Archangel in the Garden of Eden who decieved Eve to get to Adam. There are several names that have been used to identify this fallen Angel, but in the the Garden he was referred to as the serpent, Adam died Spiritually in the GARDEN the moment he disobeyed the commmandment of GOD not to eat of the tree of knowledge knowing good and evil. If this movie is made it will be huge. People are getting tired of the comic book movies and big budget movies. The last movie made based on the Bible did extremely well. To state that this movie is going to, before it has even been made, speaks volumes. As a former Atheist I can say that an Atheist’s life is normally strange because they spend a large amount of time denying and explaining why they believe God doesn’t exist. It was apparent to me that some Atheist want to believe in God and are hopeful that someone else can explain things to them. My opinion here is that Atheist are egotistical and expect others to explain why God exist or want God to show himself to them. I say egotistical because the burden of proof is not on the believer. He knew there was no forgiveness of sins without the shedding of blood (thus the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ). He offered the best of “his world” God rejected it.(no shed blood) God will also reject anybody/everybody else’s best of their world. The Bible is the Word Of God, Divinely inspired to intelligent beings of the time. Reading the book of Revelation one comes to realize that a person of the time, given a glimpse into the future could not fully comprehend what he saw. Still all scribes of Gods Word did a remarkable job.

The characters Cain and Abel were not *actual* people. Their story is a myth intended to mourn the passing of the hunter-gatherer lifestyle in favor of humanity’s settling down into the agricultural lifestyle, and eventually, cities.

It sounds great,the story of the creation ,the first human beings after the fall. I will definitely go and see it. It’s good to see good,moral movies.
What makes anyone think this will be a “moral” movie? Hollywood is anti-religious and mostly aetheists. I know… They are Jews by birth but that’s where it ends. The bible really doesn’t say much about Cain and Able. So… making a full length motion picture will require about 90% conjecture and speculation. My guess… They will attempt to show how absurd these old fables really are.
#1 Cain and Able were not Jewish. The Jewish nation did not start until 2000 years later.
#2 Semites came from Shem which was Noahs son
#3 There were no blacks then. Blacks started from Ham which was Noahs other son.

No where did God say “replenish”. He did say multiply though. According to Josephus Adam and Eve had 50+ children.
I think this movie is going to be way off Biblical base. Sad it will be viewed as “Biblical”.

Obviously you not quoting from the Bible, but instead from other “sources”. There are many translations of the Bible… The true translation does not say “Replenish”… It says “FILL” the earth. Quit quoting that which you do not understand.

Emil Your are correct The Bible does say “replenish” in Genesis 9;1 & 28. But if you would pay attention to what it says He is talking to Noah’s sons which would be correct, so why does this apply to Cain?
Translators are not always accurate. A simple Google search shows the original Hebrew word that some translated as “replenish” does not have that meaning at all. It means “fill.” This link, http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?strongs=H4390, gives the Hebrew word (????? – male’) and all its meanings. It also shows a number of other verses that use the same Hebrew word. Read them and you will see that “replenish” is never in mind in the usage of that word.
I’d be a bit concerned about these. These are well known and loved stories, and these directors and producers all seem to be very ideologically Liberal so these people doing these stories as movies may be a question as to their truthfulness.

I’m sure they’ll either trash the idea or make an action thing out of it, as the simple morality of “fictional murder” isn’t all that thrilling when you can get that anytime anywhere in technicolor-3D with all the requisite cool firearms and ordnance, so, I’m curious to see where they take it having not read Knauf’s treatment of HOUSE OF CAIN. why do you assume brown? One theory as to where all the water came from in the flood was that it was a large shield around the earth protecting the planet from radiation. As a result people now live shorter lives and perhaps now have the mutation of melanin to pigment their skin.

Where is his background in directing? Do they think that he sees people directing he must be able to do it as well. Being an actor doesn’t make you a director. Why would anyone risk millions of dollars on someone with no experience let him put up his own money and then I would say go for it otherwise get some experience first before you want to play in the major leagues.
But it’s Will Smith! He can do anything, man, ANYTHING! Just look at that wife of his, and those two extremely talented children of theirs!

Just the fact that this movie is starting all these different conversations is an indicator that it may be a success. Anything that gets people to talk that may not normally, I think is what films should do.
