Will Yun Lee and Brian Tee have just landed bad guy roles opposite Hugh Jackman in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine sequel, to be directed by James Mangold. Production begins next month in Australia. Lee recently completed the upcoming video game Sleeping Dogs, an open-world cop drama set in Hong Kong that is scheduled for release in August. The game puts players in the boots of Wei Shen (Lee), an undercover police officer fighting through the seedy criminal underworld of the sprawling city. The cast includes Emma Stone, Tom Wilkinson and Lucy Liu. Sleeping Dogs is under the Square Enix banner (Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Hitman) by United Front Games. Lee is the lead villain in MGM’s Red Dawn remake opposite Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson and Sony’s Total Recall remake. He is repped by APA and Industry Entertainment. Tee was lead bad guy in The Fast and The Furious:Tokyo Drift and was also a series regular on Starz series Crash based on the film. He’s repped by BRS and DiSante Frank & Co.

If it will play it Beijing…
o.0 I’m pretty sure one’s Korean and the other’s Japanese….
Silver Samurai
Congrats to Will! This guy is a class act and is a phenomenal actor.
Harada would be X-Men/Wolverine enemy Silver Samurai
“Details of the character are being kept tightly under wraps”?
Not to anyone who read the original Wolverine-goes-to-Japan mini-series / graphic novel.
(Great casting, btw.)
curious… What is happen with actors from Japan?
I’m sure this guy is great, but it would’ve been cool to see Hiro Sanada or maybe Kimura Takuya in this role. I just hope his Japanese is good.
i am sure Will Lee is in a very minor role.
Will is an exceptional actor and an amazing person! What a great choice!
Why put a Korean actor in a Japanese story? Who placed this article for the studio?
By that rationale, Al Pacino should never have been able to play Tony Montana in Scarface. Or for that matter, Hugh Jackman (who is Australian) shouldn’t be able to play Wolverine (who is technically Canadian) & Ian McKellen (English) shouldn’t be Magneto (German). The role should go to the actor who is most qualified and that appears to be the case here. I think it’s a good call.
I think Asians should be free to play other Asians, as long as they do a great job in the role. Just a reminder, Hugh Jackman is an Australian, playing Wolverine, who’s Canadian…no one seems to mind that!
What are you thinking! Boasting about a small secondary role! Real classy! If it’s authentic Japanese characters, all we want is H Sanada and K Watanabe!
