EXCLUSIVE: CSI creator Anthony Zuiker has teamed with Gossip Girl executive producer Sara Goodman for Taboo, a new drama project that has been sold to ABC. It stems from Zuiker’s overall deal with ABC Studios, which has him partnering with studio-based Brillstein Entertainment Partners on development.

Taboo, which will be produced by ABC Studios, Brillstein and Zuiker’s Dare To Pass banner, is based on an original idea by Zuiker who is segueing from the procedural world of CSI to serialized drama. To be written by Goodman, it is described as a sexy soap and centers on a stay-at home-mom who goes back to work as an undercover psychological profiler for the FBI, but the job isn’t nearly as dangerous as the sexual obsession she falls into with the man she’s investigating. “Sara Goodman is solid gold, and we are very lucky to have her on board to bring Taboo to life,” Zuiker said. “It’s a perfect ABC show.”
Zuiker and Goodman, both repped by CAA, will executive produce Taboo with Brillstein’s president of TV JoAnn Alfano and Zuiker’s long-time manager, Brillstein’s Margaret Riley. At Dare to Pass, the project is overseen by president Matthew Weinberg. Goodman is wrapping the final season of Gossip Girl where she was promoted to executive producer in May, working alongside showrunner Stephanie Savage.

Put this on Cinemax and you’ve got me.
yeah, late late Cinemax.
Shades of Taboo
ABC — the only network that could have show called DIRTY SEXY MONEY that wasn’t actually any of those.
I think every one is on to something that this sounds really interesting concept,if only it was on cable then an network. It seems the ideas for a lot of shows that would have worked better on cable ending up on network. And with network you don’t have the freedom as such with cable you have a creative idea, but it can go further then on network. What ever the reasons it sounds like an interesting idea for a show.
ABC is trying to find their 50 Shades. Good luck to them.
ABC who passed on CSI from Zuiker.
Wish the drama team at ABC had a little more life to them. Dungey is pretty snippy these days.
..a former stay at home mom who becomes ‘sexually obsessed’ with the person she’s profiling..hm..Sounds like they want to capitalize on the Fifty Shades phenomenon in a sort of procedural/soap cross..interesting…
not sure about broadcast being the best forum for this type of material.but sounds interesting.
Sara Goodman is a cool chick. And this is right in her wheel house.
Too bad it’s at abc. They use way too many lights and colors on their shows for this subject.
Film Fan is right. Can’t stand the look of all their shows now. They look like dots candy when you’re high. It dumbs them down immediately.
I would say most broadcast shows look like bad… particularly CBS and NBC.
Fox is hit or miss.
Why can’t shows look like Homeland or Breaking Bad? Literally the CBS shows are squeezed and dark, ABC looks like the game Candyland, NBC… well who watches NBC? I take that back the episodes of Smash actually looked very beautiful.
Why do they even call them soaps? There nighttime scripted shows. There not on 5 day a week.Really ABC deoesn’t like soas remember.I guess all nighttime scripted shows are soaps now.
Doesn’t matter! No one watches abc anymore. Nothing worth watching and why bother anyway…they’ll just cancel it even if it has millions of fans. Just like they did with One Life to Live!!
ewww…Goodman wrote the worst episode of Gossip Girl, ‘Shattered Bass’aka the episode were Chuck physically abuses Blair. Maybe this show is up her ally though, and she can have all the abuse and convoluted story-lines she wants.
