The changing of the guard in A&E’s unscripted lineup continues. Following the cancellation of Dog The Bounty Hunter in May after eight seasons, the cable network is ending another veteran docu-reality series that helped put it on the map, Gene Simmons Family Jewels. “We could not be more proud of the unparalleled run of Gene Simmons Family Jewels,” A&E said in a statement. Added the Simmons clan, “It has been a wonderful life-altering experience for our family and after seven successful seasons, we feel it’s time to move on.” As with Dog The Bounty Hunter, the cancellation of Family Jewels comes amid a ratings decline as the show, like all aging series, has become increasingly expensive. In the most recent season this summer, Family Jewels averaged around 1 million viewers, down from the record 3 million who tuned in for the season finale last summer featuring the KISS frontman’s proposal to longtime girlfriend Shannon Tweed. A&E is riding high on the success of its new flagship unscripted series, Storage Wars, and breakout Duck Dynasty.

It’s about damn time…this guy thinks he is the center of the universe and he’s nothing but a damn fool who got lucky at one point in his life with KISS and now he is trying to milk his fame for whatever he can along with his turned too many times doorknobbed wife Tweed. A&E finally woke up and said adios!
A&E didn’t “wake up” to anything. Gene Simmons is a very intelligent person. The ratings of the show had slumped (only 1 million people watching each week – poor guy), and they wanted to make room for the new shows with higher ratings. It’s all about money.
this makes me sad…I really am enjoying this seasons heaps of laughs. Fav episode so far is the Anne Frank one.

Gene Simmons Family Jewels was the most obviously scripted show in the unscripted genre.
This was one of the most egregiously scripted “unscripted” shows around.

Thank GOD that dog the bounty hunter is cancelled. That show was such a horrible train wreck where the knowledge that that entire family would screw each other over for money couldn’t be washed off. Add to that, Dog is a raist and was recorded saying the “n-word” (YouTube it)! I’m so glad A&E is beginning to make the right choices!
I am now done with A&E. I loved both of those shows & have been a loyal follow. I even bought their books. I am very upset!
Thank you A&E!!! Duck Dynasty is an amazing program. There’s no sleeping with hundreds of women, being a drug addict, being an accomplice to a murder, or having children taken away by the state on Duck Dynasty. Just an awesome southern family with deep religious based morals. They don’t claim to be Christians and then use every profanity in the book in the next sentence. Definitely need more programs like this!!!

I’ve stopped watching since Dog was cancelled. Dog and the posse took me to A&E and I no longer have an interest. I will follow Dog to the network that is lucky enough and proud enough to follow their good work and public service to us all. They do more than hunt down those that make a mockery of our justice system but personally care that those they do hunt down know that someone does in fact care for their future choices and sircumstances and that they do in fact still have choices in their future outcomes. They get their money regardless of the outcomes of the legal isssues and yet still choose to show compassion and take each case personally when they don’t have to and true enough would be a lot easier to just find em and lock em up and onto the next and choose the more emotional and caring road to which they do not get paid to do but choose to still do so. Show em Dog! A&E doesn’t own ur collar! And Beth, they ain’t even worth breaking a nail over!
I love both of these shows and for those of u who say he is a racist……come on! It was a disagreement with his son and obviously not meant for the public to hear but you can’t tell me that you never got heated and said something you don’t really mean! Give it a rest
AE network did not do their end by promoting the Dog, or any other shows on their network, They have no social media, no contact with the public at all. Get it together AE.
