EXCLUSIVE: Leonard, Sheldon & Co. may be hanging out at the comic book store more often next season. Kevin Sussman, who plays the comic book store manager Stuart, has been promoted to a regular for the upcoming sixth season of the hit CBS comedy. He has been recurring on the show since Season 2, appearing in 15 episodes so far. I hear Sussman’s deal is of the “7/13″ kind, meaning that he likely won’t be in every episode like Big Bang‘s core cast. This is the fourth promotion for a Big Bang recurring player, following similar upgrades for Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik, who now appear in virtually every episode, and Sara Gilbert, who left the series.
Stuart played a key part in the relationship between Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Bialik) as it was Stuart’s date with Amy that prompted Sheldon to make her his girlfriend. His character also was behind a bet that produced one of the most popular images from the show with the main gang dressed as Catwoman, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, and Supergirl. Sussman, who was a regular on ABC’s Ugly Betty before Big Bang, recently wrapped an arc on Showtime’s Weeds. He is repped by APA, the Group Entertainment and attorney Bruce Gellman.

I am delighted with this news. Stuart/Kevin a favorite.
YAY!! I love him!!
I like this. I have always thought that Stu and the comic book store could be a good set-up for a spinoff series. By making Kevin a regular, the producers can get the viewers more invested in the character if they do decide to go that route.
I love that this show recognizes the terrific supporting talent that they have & doesn’t try to fill in with big name stars, instead. Mayim was a perfect fit to this band of misfits because of her neurobiology degree. She & Melissa have added a terrific new dimension to the show & I’m sure more of Kevin will do the same!
And more Stewart can only mean more Lonely Larry, more Captain Sweatpants and more Wi Wheaton … Not to mention other Fanboy/ComicCon Guest Appearances, although topping Stan Lee will be hard!
Wow, I just totally outed myself as a complete girl-nerd.
Excellent news. The next recurring character to be upped should be Barry Kripke; especially since it might get John Ross Bowie off the disaster that is “Retired at 35.”
Wow that is so good that everyone is getting more time on the show. We love love love love the show, record it and do not mind seeing episodes that we have watched over and over again.
Keep up the good work, love the story lines, the lines, the jokes the characters, where were we all those years until this year when we started to watch the Big Bang Theory religiously. Sorry I missed Jim Parsons (Sheldon) when he was in Harvey on Broadway this summer. Come back to Broadway Sheldon love to see you…
All the best to the entire cast of Big Bang Theory!
Sussman is terrific and deserves this. But what about the equally terrific John Ross Bowie?
Good news. Funny guy. Great character. “Big Bang Theory” reminds me of “Dobie Gillis” – but it’s not a rip-off! Completely original I think – “D.G.” being one of my favorites.
I am Kevin’s mother and thrilled to see him get the professional recognition he so deserves. By the way, he is also a brilliant dramatic actor and should also have an opportunity in that direction. Love Kevin, Love the show
This news is very, very, good, indeed. Insofar as there ARE great episodes of BBT without Stuart and the comic book store BUT: there is no episode with Stuart and the comic book store that is not exceptional.
