EXCLUSIVE: The Book Of Mormon on Broadway broke the house record of the Eugene O’Neill Theatre for the 39th time for the week ending August 19, with a gross of $1,651,064.00. While that is a big number for a theater with less than 1100 seats, there the musical just keeps topping itself. The show simultaneously broke new ground by cracking the house record at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver, where the first National Tour opened last night. Colorado is the stomping grounds of South Park and its creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and it is the first stop of the show’s national expansion. For the same week ending August 19 (when the show was in previews), the musical turned in a gross of $1,340,947.00 for the week.

How much are Broadway show tickets now? I’m bracing for the answer.
Generally $100-150, but discounts can be found for most shows.
I saw this in Denver on Saturday night. As much as I don’t like musicals, I loved this outrageous and hysterical one! The crowd loved it! It really is a pop culture phenomena worth experiencing. Glad it stopped by in Denver. Colorado needed to laugh!
book of mormon is so spectacular… cant wait for them to do a movie of it… (which they have confirmed they will be doing) while parker and stone have a pretty bad live action record… the source material here is brilliant so hopefully they will nail it
If you don’t plan and want to see it while visiting NY, you could pay up to 500$ for book of mormon. It all depends on how much you wanna see it. Personally, i found the musical ok. Act 1 isn’t as good as act 2 and i still think it is overrated.
Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but if the theater has 1100 seats, and there are 8 shows a week, then does that mean the average price per ticket is $187? That’s the AVERAGE price???
As Carine noted, there are “premium” seats available at some hit shows that can routinely cost upwards of $500. (THE PRODUCERS was getting $480 over a decade ago.) Even 24 such seats a performance can kick up the average.
@ cadavra
There might be discounts for most shows. Book of Mormon is not one of them. At face value with no premium pricing included the show on Broadway can gross $1,244,432 but last week grossed $1,651,064 @ 102.6% capacity. That is a lot of premium seats being sold.
$85-135 but for Mormon the back row is 65 the rest are $155-$500
It’s funny but it’s WAY overrated. I wouldn’t see it again (and I could have since I had a 2nd ticket but sold it).
