Script was overrated because it had political allusions. You can tell by the trailer that it’s forced quirk. Not a movie that anyone is going to see, all the laughs are forced as well. Pass.
One question — What the hell was Jennifer Garner doing? Almost like she watched Reese Witherspoon in Election one too many times, then imagined that character as 20 years older… She. Was. Just. Act-ting. So. Hard. It actually musta hurt.
This movie is over a year delayed…so much for it being a ‘hot trailer.’
I saw this last year, and absolutely loved it. Jennifer Garner is fantastic in this, and those that appreciate dark humor will love!
I agree with how forced this looks.
Could have been better as a mockumentary.
Saw the movie at the Austin Film Festival.
Good time. Had some great laughs.
Major Pass
okay, is this a comedy? zzzzzzz
By the way– The trailer is one of the worst I’ve seen.
It seems like this has been sitting around collecting dust for EONS. I have really wanted to see it. The first trailers that circulated a year or so ago looked pretty funny and quirky. Glad it’s FINALLY going to see the light of day – in any way, shape or form!
this is site is so vitriolic.
looks fun.
I saw this last fall at the Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival. It was entertaining. Reminded me of Election and other contemporary satires.
Dated. Looks dated and feels dated.
ATTN Trailer Production Houses and Marketing Execs:
You’re cutsey “ding” (cymbals?) to make an “ironic” or “irreverent” quirky edit is SO OVER — we never really liked it in the first place.
Love,
The Movie Going Public.
saw this movie wayyyyyy back at test screening with NO IDEA on what to expect… and I can actually say it was pretty damn funny and entertaining… all the what is Jennifer Garner doing and forced quirky is due to the trailer being a crappy one.. hopefully they release another trailer because this one doesn’t fit the tone of the movie at all.
What’s with all the negativity? I think this looks like a fun movie with a great ensemble cast.
YES, the movie’s been around for a while because independent films that have to build momentum through festivals before a broad release often take time to do so.
I think Jennifer Garner is one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood. Yes, she’s been in some lame movies (Elektra, for one), but she was brilliant in Juno and Alias (even if it went downhill in later seasons). Even in lesser productions, her performance has been worth watching. But based on the comments of people who’ve seen this one, I think it’ll be a good one. I’ll see it for the concept as well as the cast.
Man, Jennifer Garner would be a great Michelle Bachman… Just sayin’.
So, what have we learned, here? We’ve learned, quite simply, that people who have actually SEEN the movie liked it a lot and their opinions are valid and welcomed. In contrast to snippy for the sake of snippy, judgmental, TOTALLY baseless “reviews”. (BTW-someone should screen grab this thread and use it as an example of what’s good and bad with comment sections).
This movie is a lot better than this trailer leads to believe. I cringe at the Schindler’s List gag, though.
