EXCLUSIVE: CAA just signed Harald Zwart, who is following up the hit remake The Karate Kid with Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones, the adaptation of the first novel in the Cassandra Clare series that will star Jamie Campbell Bower, Lilly Collins, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Leana Headey for Constantin Films and Screen Gems.
Zwart, who was last repped at ICM Partners, comes to CAA with his production company, Zwart Arbeid. Zwart founded that shingle and runs it with producer Veslemoey Ruud Zwart. The Karate Kid, which starred Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan, grossed $343 million globally, and before that Zwart directed the films The Pink Panther 2, Agent Cody Banks and One Night At McCool’s. Zwart continues with Warren Dern as his lawyer.

One night at mccools and pink panther 2 are two of the worse movies ever made. How did this guy ever work again and why does CAA care?
clearly the balance of power has shifted across the agency world with this ‘signing.’ Next up: the battle to sign Rebecca Black and her much-anticipated sequel: “It’s Saturday” Pair these two behemoths up – and then put it in 3D. Box office gold!
