EXCLUSIVE: Fox has bought two more projects from Chernin Entertainment, a relationship comedy from feature writer Michelle Morgan and a cop drama from Las Vegas creator Gary Scott Thompson. Both hail from 20th Century Fox TV where Chernin Entertainment is based.
The Michelle Morgan project is a relationship comedy about a couple whose friends and family don’t think they are right for each other. Morgan is writing the script and executive producing with Peter Chernin, Katherine Pope and Aaron Kaplan & Sean Perrone of Kaplan Perrone Entertainment. UTA-repped Morgan, who started off as an actress and recurred on NBC’s American Dreams, wrote the screenplay for the Kristen Wiig-starrer Imogene, which will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. She also is writing screenplay Shining City for Warner Bros. and producer Donald De Line.
For his next project, WME-repped Thompson is headed to the Florida Keys. Titled The Keys, the drama is described with the tagline, “One Road, 126 Miles, 800 Islands, two cops who don’t play by the rules.
The Michelle Morgan and Gary Scott Thompson shows join several other projects that Chernin Entertainment has already set up this development season. They include a Kay Cannon workplace comedy, which just received a put pilot commitment at Fox, a Chris Levinson crime drama and Dario Scardapane’s comic book adaptation Gun Machine, also at Fox, and a medical drama from writer Dahvi Waller at CBS.

The Keys sounds like a fun show and a nice fit for FOX. GST is a great writer and a really awesome guy. Victory all around.
Agree, but I bet the cops do play by some of the rules. Their hard-nosed Captain will see to it.
I worked with Gary on marketing Las Vegas. He’s a great guy who “gets” mainstream television.
I bet the cops follow some of the rules. Otherwise their hard-nosed Captain will have them walking a beat…
I worked with Gary marketing Las Vegas and he was a great partner. He totally gets mainstream television. I wish him the best of luck.
Gary is an amazing guy, so generous and kind, can’t say enough good thing about him. Wish him all the success in the world.
Michelle is awesome. If it comes together, could be perfect fit with Liz, Mindy and Dana. Also, that photo does not do her justice.
The Keys sounds like another boring cops show written by someone with limited vision. Don’t forget, GST was repeating Las Vegas story lines before the back nine.
Huh? Las Vegas was repeating itself in the first nine shows? Next time, take the extra thirty seconds to type IMD.COM into your computer, then type in Las Vegas, then click on episodes, and then read the synopses. I hate it when people just make things up because they’re bitter and jealous. Grow up.
Limited vision??? Las Vegas was a hit show for 5 years and is still a running hit in syndication on TNT. You must be a disgruntled writer who got fired from the show.
GST is the best Showrunner in the business… such an amazing guy and a great Writer/Director/Producer.
So happy for him – he deserves all the success in the world.
Gary is a writer’s writer. He’s a great producer, an inspired director, and one of the best bosses I’ve ever had. He still has a lot of passion for what he does, and that’s unfortunately not easy to come by. The Keys sounds cool. I wish I’d thought of it myself!
Gary was truly the best boss, mentor, and friend. His passion, vision, and his loyalty to his crew for 5 years, was truly inspiring.
I was a Designer on two of Gary’s shows. He gave me full creative freedom to do my thing.
Gary is a talent and a great person. Congratulations, GST!
GST is incredibly talented and an all-around awesome guy! Congratulations, GST! Congratulations, FOX!
Anyone who gets the chance to work with GST just won the lottery!!!!! Congratulations GST!!!
Go GST. Congrats.
Gst is a wonderful man. He treats his crew with love and respect. Much love and positive thoughts his way for a sucessful show!
Gary managed to keep Las Vegas on Network television for five seasons in an episodic climate where shows are cancelled after one airing. That fact speaks for itself! I know many LV alumni including myself who would jump at the chance to work with him again. Congratulations on The Keys Gary!!!!!
