  • Is the consensus finally clear that DDL is the Tom Brady of acting? He is a an out and out chameleon. I first saw him in, My Beautiful Launderette and because I wasn’t as familiar with his name then I had a hard time placing him in future roles as the same actor. That person there is the same person here?! A true artist if ever an actor could call himself that.

• nothing about this movie gives any of us reason to think it will be good.

• DDL may or may not pull it off, but not sure Spielberg still has his Mojo. Will Lincoln be (not so secretly) gay? Will he have a black love child? Will he blame Bush for the Civil War? Tired old liberals (like Redford) tend to get preachy with age. Let’s see the final product before handing him that Oscar.

• —-Day Lewis –a superb impressionist
  –like Penn and Meryl Streep. He can sustain
  an impression through and entire film.

  ALAS —also like Streep and Penn, character developement
  and astonishing revelations of soul —are lacking.

  FACT IS —-franchise slum Hollywood pitched
  character development, along with story development,
  script and even music development —decades ago.

• We shall see. What else is there to say when you haven’t seen the movie? Sometimes you get the impression that Academy voters just float toward consensus – also a Weinstein specialty – the bullying OF consensus as the Academy is browbeaten into foregone conclusion with all this contrived consensus he slaves at throughout the year. Pulls the string tight in December and January. Wish the movie well though. Yes I know that “Lincoln” is not Weinstein.

• DDL’s ability to transform is astounding. Definitely one of my favorite actors of ALLLLL time. I’ve loved him since The Last of the Mohicans.
