EXCLUSIVE: In a competitive situation, Big City, a single-camera family comedy from 30 Rock writer-producers Josh Siegal and Dylan Morgan, went to ABC with a significant penalty. It marks the first sale for Siegal and Morgan under the rich two-year overall deal they signed with Sony TV in May. Sony produces Big City with Jamie Tarses’ studio-based pod Farfare. The comedy centers on a suburban family trapped in the big city. The setup compliments ABC’s existing family comedies Modern Family, The Middle, Suburgatory and the upcoming The Neighbors.
Siegal and Morgan’s deal with Sony allows them to complete the final 13-episode season of 30 Rock where they have been promoted to co-executive producers. Siegal and Morgan, repped by Rothman Brecher Kim and attorney Mitch Smelkinson, have been on 30 Rock for three seasons, having started on the show in fall 2009 as co-producers. Before that the duo worked on the USA dramedy Monk.

Boy, sitcom writers are not cute.
Lol to Jen … Since when was being a hot writer a requirement? Who cares if they’re hot or not, I’d much rather be concerned with how talented of writers they are! You sound like a network executive, “ugh can’t they be sexier?” ugh is right, I have to hear that being said 30 times a day by crazy network execs who all have their masters in programming sexy television apparently!
Jen, you’re wrong.
Land sakes! I’ve worked with these guys and they’re the real deal. Amazing writers. Very funny. And they aren’t assholes. A rare combination. Color me green with envy!
A suburban family stuck in the city. So it sounds like the complete opposite of Suburgatory. Maybe that means it will be funny.
Congratulations to a very, very funny couple of writers!
The guy on the right looks like a muppet.
