EXCLUSIVE: Acting/singing duo Aly Michalka and AJ Michalka may star together in a comedy series next. The two sisters topline a half-hour project, which has sold to Fox. It hails from writers Matt Dearborn and Adam Goldberg, Happy Madison and Sony Pictures TV.
On the untitled single-camera comedy, which has received a script commitment, Aly and AJ Michalka will play versions of themselves. Finally out of the house and into their first apartment, Aly and AJ’s exciting new lives are interrupted when their mother unexpectedly moves in with them. Breaking In co-creator Goldberg and Zeke and Luther co-creator Dearborn will write the script and executive produce with Happy Madison’s Doug Robinson. Aly and AJ Michalka will serve as co-producers.
The two sisters first hit stardom as pop rock duo Aly & AJ (now 78violet). They made their acting debut as the stars of the Disney original movie Cow Belles, which was co-written by Dearborn. The two also co-starred together in MTV’s Super Sweet 16: The Movie. Additionally, AJ recurred on the CW drama Hellcats which starred Aly. The Fox comedy project extends Aly’s relationship with Happy Madison — she just wrapped the company’s Grown Ups movie sequel for Sony Pictures. AJ recently wrapped the indie feature Jesus In Cowboy Boots. Aly and AJ Michalka are repped by CAA and just signed with Principato-Young Entertainment.
The new project reunites WME-repped Goldberg with Fox where he and Seth Gordon created comedy series Breaking In, also produced by Sony TV and Happy Madison, on which Dearborn served as a consulting producer. The network also bought a period comedy pitch from Goldberg, Happy Madison and Sony TV last year.

Burton is definitely gonna be watching this. Va Voom!
Without knowing any more of the plot particulars except for the ones pointing out in this story I would say 49 year old Lisa Kudrow would make a pretty outragiously funny mom for these two. What are other nominees?
YESS!!! I AGREE!!!
This show has potential and I would definitely check it out. but man if they casted Lisa Kudrow as the mother, I would be so excited for this show! Great choice!
Yay! Awesome! I so want Aly & AJ in the show together! I have been waiting for them to be in something again since Cowbelles & Super Sweet 16!
I’m so excited about this. I’m an HUGE fan of Aly & AJ Michalka! They Really deserve more and more, because they both have a special talent that is very hard to find today.
Thanks God I can say ‘I’m a Aly & AJ Michalka’ Fan.

It sounds just like Ashley Tisdale’s “Under Construction” TV project.
Yes!!! I am so excited for them!! I’ve been a huge fan of both of them for years!! What is the name of the new show?
They look like they’re perfectly suited and destined for reality TV stardom.

Matt Dearborn has a great track record!…Congrats Matt!!!
Put it on Cinemax and I’m there!
Wow, Chuggy-Ton,now, that was funny. I needed a good laugh.
I love Aly & Aj, was very sad when Hellcats was cancelled and really hope that this makes it onto out TV’s.
Awesome movie by Fox. I’m sure that they are going to sell tickets.
I’m so happy for them and so excited to watch the Michalka sisters finally acting together again! Love them so much!
Violetbuds united for 78violet!!

Aly was great on Hellcats, but the network seemed to get cold feet on the interracial couple aspect and killed the show. It’s sad that in this time networks are still too afraid of showing a black man dating a white woman.
Nah, even the writing staff was cold on Hellcats. They knew it wasn’t working.
Aly’s first appearance as an actress was on the TV show “Phil of The Future” which had 43 episodes. She was also in a movie opposite Frank Langella on Disney Channel called “Now You See It”.
AJ had extensive TV acting experience prior to “Cow Belles”. She first appeared on an episode of “Passions” in 1999, then she had 2 episode guest appearances on 3 different shows “General Hospital”, “Birds of Prey”, and “Six Feet Under”. Her longest runs were a 9 episode run on “Oliver Beene” and a 15 episode run on “The Guardian”
yes Robert… I was wondering why they were saying that Cowbelles was their debut appearance! It may have been their debut appearance together on-screen, well, other than in music-wise but it wasn’t their tv debuts by any means whatsoever… however Cowbelles was a very funny & awesome movie
I really do hope this show comes out I would so LOVE to see Aly & AJ in a TV series together! I was excited when I thought they were going to do the Haversham Hall on Disney but then that fell through so I will be very happy if this one actually comes through for them!
Great for Aly and AJ
