Ann Romney and Chris Christie gave the speeches but Fox News Channel was the bigger winner at Republican National Convention on Tuesday night. Not only did the News Corp-owned channel beat its cable news rivals during the evening but it beat the main networks as well. In fact, from 10:45 – 11 PM, as New Jersey Governor Christie was giving the convention’s keynote address to the delegates in Tampa, Fox News pulled way ahead of everyone and peaked with 7.2 million viewers. In that surge, there were 1.8 million in the 25-54 demo. Overall, during the only hour of primetime that ABC, NBC and CBS gave to the RNC last night, Fox News also came out on top in terms of total viewers.
FNC had 6.8 million total viewers and 1.67 million in the demo in the 10 – 11 PM time slot. NBC had 4.7 million total viewers with 1.72 in the demo. CBS had 3.11 million total viewers and 938,237 in the 25-54 demo. ABC had 2.86 million total viewers and 920,346 in the demo. In the cable news world, CNN had 1.47 million total viewers in the 10 – 11 PM slot, with 413,467 in the 25-54 demo. MSNBC came up the end with 1.46 million total viewers and 411,738 viewers in the demo. Over the evening, from 8 – 11 PM, Fox News had 5.15 million total viewers compared to CNN’s 1.2 million and MSNBC’s 1.31 million. FNC had 1, 174,242 in the adult 25-54 demo to CNN’s 368,811 and MSNBC’s 337,562.

Not sure if this is any kind of a surprise. Obviously the people who watch Fox News were going to watch the convention coverage. And of course they were going to watch it in the vacuum that is Fox News. I watch CNN insensately…..except over the past couple of days as I need to avoid the nausea that comes with hearing the Republican candidates and their cronies speak.
What planet are you from?
Well, not exactly surprising. I don’t think I know anyone who watches the conventions. Typically those that do are hardcore party supporters and/or people who already know who they are voting for. Pointless in this day in age really.
You mean a Fox sponsored event where they incessantly repeat Fox talking points was watched by a bunch of Fox viewers?
Inconceivable!!
Oh give me a break, Hellen Keller could have seen that coming.
I’ve watched hours of every convention of both parties since I was 12. This year I feel no need. In fact, at 11 I thought about The Daily Show but skipped it because I don’t think even Jon Stewart can find anything here.
Much in the way Nickelodeons Kids Choice Awards rate best on Nickelodeon.
MSNBC and CNN are in the ratings toilet. Maddow shultz Chris Matthews are bottom feeders. They made a big mistake letting Keith Olberman get away.
Wait till next week, then we will see who’s on top.
It will be Fox you tool, they beat all the others in the ratings all the time, check the Neilsens.
Fox will be tops again.
So whats your point?
Preaching to the choir. The proof of “fair and balanced” will be how Fox covers the DNC.
Fox beats all other cable and broadcast networks. Fox’s critics and detractors and running out of ammunition. The facts are:
More people watched for convention ceverage than any other medium. Tha’s a big accomplishment, Fox. Keep doing what you’re doing. We love it.
Fox, just keep up the good work. You are by far the most honest channel to watch! The others spew out more crap than came out of the hurricane Issac. Ilove every one of your programs and never change channels. God bless you for being Fair and Balanced. When people tell me about the liberal crap they heard on one of the other networks it makes this old former U.S.Marine sick as hell!!But the junk they put out is exactly the way our America is going today. Again I say, just keep it coming as you are doing now! What you say is about all we have to look forward to. God Bless You and all you stand for.1114 Friday,31August 2012.
