FX has closed a script development deal with music mogul Dr. Dre for a one-hour drama. Written by Sidney Quashie, the project explores present day Los Angeles through the lenses of the music business and the crime business. Quashie and Dre will executive produce, with Daniel Schnider from Dre’s company Crucial TV and Brad Bertner co-executive producing.

Just get your album done Dre…
If that last track is any indication of what to expect (rap lite), maybe Dre’s better off hanging in the background and producing beats.
Congratz Sid!
Expect plenty of “Beats By Dre” product placement.
HA HA HA! Brilliant!
So….a tv show about the 1990s rap music scene then?
no. about PRESENT day rap scene. learn to read.
Guess that one went over your head. Michelle is absolutely right. The crime factor in the rap industry was prominent in the 90s, escalating with the West vs East rap wars ending in Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls’ murders. It’s not really an issue now, especially with corporate companies (see white people) taking over the financing of black artists.
You should really get your facts together, jayyy ceee los.
Glad someone knows their history!
Would be great if they could work Tupac’s hologram into the mix — maybe as a detective or a hot dog cart man?
Music and crime, something Dre knows a ton about.
Funny how people still relate to Dr. Dre as a “Gangster” or some sort of criminal. Let’s see: His CHRONIC album single handedly made interscope over $500m and took them out of Chapter 14, he has two of the largest music acts in history under his label (50 cent and Eminem) and has recently created a 100million dollar headphone business. WAKE UP! DR. DRE is no more gangster than Warren Buffet!
Look up the story of Dee Barnes…
He’s a thug.
he is a breakdancer
How about he get The Chronic back on itunes? I get it is all ugly w/ DRR, but he is only screwing fans
