Democrats Abroad Switzerland, the U.S. party’s Swiss branch, said in a statement the event was expected to be the “single most important fundraising event” outside the United States for Obama’s campaign. Organizers tell the AP at least $625,000 was raised from American donors to the Obama campaign at the event tonight in Geneva where George Clooney is the draw. Guests are paying $15,000 per person to dine with Clooney, $5,000 for a photo with him, and $1,000 to attend a reception before the dinner. About 30 people are attending the dinner, with about 100 at the reception. The event is co-hosted by Geneva-based American lawyer Charles C. Adams Jr and Matthew Barzun, Obama’s campaign finance chairman. A more private dinner at Adams’ home cost $20,000 for an individual ticket and $30,000 per couple. Clooney arrived by car today to Geneva’s Old Town from his residence on Lake Como, Italy. The Geneva event is latest in a string of Hollywood-studded fundraisers for Obama.
Clooney raised a record-breaking $15 million in May at a dinner at his LA home for President Obama’s reelection. Ryan Murphy and Sarah Jessica Parker hosted June fundraisers at their homes in Los Angeles and New York, respectively. And film/TVmogul Harvey Weinstein and actress Anne Hathaway co-hosted a fundraiser at Weinstein’s Connecticut estate earlier this month that brought in more than $2 million.

George Clooney is the model citizen of show business and well basically life itself.
Take note you wild egoists with too much money and time on your hands!!
Sounds like chump change compared to previous efforts. The well is running dry, George, time to move onto greener pastures.
Are they all American citizens contributing? Can you be a Swiss citizen and contribute? Or from any other European country? I don’t know. Shaking the trees for cash in Switzerland symbolizes all kinds of problems, issues, and potential conflicts-of-interest considering the international characteristics of Swiss banking being what they are it seems to me. Romney might contribute as a tax deduction! He is after all a pragmatist about money – namely yours.
