AMC has launched a “Hey Dish, Where’s My AMC?” viral video contest for the satcaster’s subscribers (non-subscribers can enter too) who are unhappy that Dish dropped all AMC Networks channels at midnight June 30 in a prolonged carriage fee dispute. The contest follows last week’s zombie invasion of Manhattan to protest the MIA The Walking Dead from Dish. The ensuing Zombie Experiment NYC video has notched upward of 5 million views on YouTube since it was posted July 30. Other affected shows are Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Hell on Wheels. To enter the contest, fans are encouraged to submit a 30-90 second video “of how you would react if you were a Dish subscriber who lost AMC”. Other affected networks include IFC and We. AMC’s Choice winner will receive $4K cash and a Canon 7D camera plus an opportunity to discuss their work with an AMC production exec. People’s Choice (the one with the most votes) winner will receive $1K cash. Both will receive AMC social media exposure.

Heres a freebie for all of ya: Walter White doing to Dish what Walt did to Gus Fring = WIN!
A desperation move by AMC. Clearly the lack of media attention to this proves most Dish subscribers couldn’t care less, so AMC tries to cook up controversy. Pathetic.
Yeah ok. About 20 or more cannels got dropped and if you go to ANY website for the channel that got dropped the first thing you will see is, “No longer on Dish Network.” with a link to change providers. It’s not just AMC. Even Nickelodeon which is one of the highest rated children networks.
And DISH should respond with a contest for people to make videos asking AMC why they are trying to be like Viacom and ask for an unfair per-subscriber increase…
Hey AMC. Just make an app available to watch all your programming, you know like HBO GO. Charge a monthly fee.
So that Zombies of NYC thing didn’t pull in the sort of publicity they hoped, I’m guessing. Wonder how much money they’re wasting on stunts like this, as well as all those “Not available on Dish” cross network promos, and if that, combined with lack of whatever they were taking in from Dish Subscribers before they went nuclear option, is worth whatever increase in fees they are holding out for.
My degree isn’t in Mathematics, but I’m gonna go ahead and say probably not. This is a battle of egos now, not profits.
Currently I am a DISH subscriber
with the 250 channel package.
Any time you scroll through the
meun, you will see that 3 or
more channels(same call letters)
are showing the same thing.
So, DISH’S claim of more choices
at a lower price is a joke.
Get rid of the excess same
channels and bring back amc,
ifc, and we(1 channel for the
same call letters will do).
just more of the same channels
