They forgot to change one of the Chinese flags…
Epic, guaranteed 30 mil open.
The North Koreans? That’s just silly and really really bad writing.
How did they get past the 3000 US based fighter planes?
This trailer makes me sad.
“How did they get past the 3000 US based fighter planes?” I guess you missed the line in the trailer about the weapon that wiped out US Central Command. Yeah, I don’t know how wiping out the US military in the Gulf would prevent the defense of the US homeland either.
I need to meet the person who has a “blood of heroes” reference [100 stones 3 times] in their signature. Confused how you could be that cool but then crap on anything about red dawn though.
Wolverines!!!
20m opening weekend min, 60 domestic min, it’ll do fine, there is an appetite for jingoistic, xenophobic material right now.
Why is it necessary to ruin every childhood/teen memory I had. Why do they have to remake every movie that was done 15/20 years ago. Where are the script writers. I guess they are working on cable shows that are actually original and interesting.
Red Dawn as some of you said was great because it was teens battling these experience adult soldiers. Teens that had to grow up in a matter of minutes and learn to fight and survive. But no they had to bring in adults.
LOOK I like Chris H. but man he is only doing one kind of role and it is not going to work for me as a viewer. Terrible because they could have done this with some young actors and it would have been good. Even being a remake. And seriously this doesn’t work in this time and age It just doesn’t make sense. NO NO NO
Thought things couldn’t get any more laughable until I saw “Connor Cruise” being advertised as if that’s a reason I should go see this. Truly hi-larious!
The original worked because it was 1984 Morning Again in Reagan’s America and the Soviets were our real life enemies so it made sense for them to be the bad guys in the movie. This remake made sense when it was the Chinese invading but even that was a stretch. Thanks to MGM’s desire to sell movie tickets to a billion Chinese moviegoers the Chinese were changed in post-production to North Koreans. Which makes even less sense. We are in a very low level “cold war” with North Korea but it’s been going on since 1953 when the Korean War ended with a stalemate. This movie will make money from its target audience. They’ll think it’s awesome it’s Friday Night Lights Goes To War. Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose! Go Wolverines!
can’t wait. Looks like it will be a classic! Woohoo!
Based on that horrid trailer, I’m rooting for the North Koreans.
Please Kim Song-Sung-Blue, send us all to the death camps, sooner, not later.
Well, I’ve seen all of this “picture” that I want to see. There’s more and better things on the slate for Thanksgiving. I just can’t believe how mind-numbingly insensitive and overly violent this “stuff” is at a time when families all over the country are still being split up by a genuine war.
besides being a bad remake of a 1980′s “rahrah America” movie done in the ray-gun era, this mess seems to be about how many people “we” can kill, and or “they” can kill or how much stuff we can blow up how fast. It’s Transformers and Uwe Boll meets the “Wolverines” without Swayze and Sheen. At what point is the “grain of wheat blub” in some Studio exec’s pointed head supposed to flicker to life with the notion that this might just be a bad idea? Never mind. It’s too late now..Again..
Re-making TOTAL RECALL is one thing….this is just wrong on so many levels. You shouldn’t be able to take classic movies and make them pop music.
Coming Soon
CASABLANCA with explosions!
Starring Channing Tatum and some Australian lingerie model!
I think everyone is missing the bigger picture. Look who directed this movie – the guy that created all the kick ass action in the last 3 Bourne movies, and Mission 4. Say what you will about the writing, this movie is going to be wall to wall kick ass. I for one can’t wait.
grr…a Che T-Shirt….blah
And Special Guest Star – Sarah Palin as Mom.
This is going to be less believable than a bunch of costumed Super Heroes that is led by a Norse God.
North Korea couldn’t successfully invade South Korea in 1950, but they’re going to successfully invade the most well-armed country in the history of civilization?
Like I said, bring on the radio active spiders, or something.
USA gets invaded by North Korea….right. Sounds like they ripped off the plot from Homefront (a video game for XBox, for those who don’t know. It wasn’t very good.)
It doesn’t look all that bad but it does clearly lack the substance and feeling of the original. At least it looks better than the Footloose and Karate Kid remakes…good god just typing that last one makes my skin crawl.
This trailer and movie look so so bad. I think their best marketing efforts should go towards 10-15 yr. old males who like to look at stuff go boom and care little for logic and a decent story.
At least it looks like it would make good fodder for RiffTrax. And Thanksgiving release? Don’t forget to give thanks you weren’t involved with this turkey!
What a ridiculous movie. No way in hell that any country, especially North Korea would take over our country.
they actually filmed this last year and it’s been on the shelf until now. that’s a sign of how bad it is.
