EXCLUSIVE: ICM Partners has signed Patrick Aison, a neophyte scribe who was pursued by the agencies after Paramount and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot acquired his spec script Wunderkind, a ’70s-set action/thriller that follow a young Nazi hunter with the CIA and an older Nazi hunter working for the Mossad after they team up.
Aison most recently co-wrote with Brad Kean the sci-fi thriller spec Echo Station, a $20 million which Daybreakers helmers Michael and Peter Spierig will direct, with funding from Singapore and Australia. It shoots this fall in Australia, produced by Circle of Confusion and H2F. Aison, a graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts masters program, is managed by H2F and lawyered by Peter Sample.

How is ICM getting new feature clients? Are they offering equity stakes in the company?
Signing with a TV agency will make his feature scripts harder to package but on the other hand the agency will kill for him, make sure he’s happy enough not to leave. A toss-up.
Brilliant script. That’s a great sign. He’s incredibly talented.
Scriptshadow’s first word of his review: “Mess.”
Conludes with:
“Anyway, I think this puppy needs five or six more rewrites before it’s where it needs to be. In its current state, it’s just not there.”
[ ] what the hell did I just read?
[x] wasn’t for me
Get that red pen out J.J. Abrams.
Congratulations, you win “hilarious comment of the week.” Really, it’s so well crafted, what with the comment boxes and quotes. Satire at it’s best.
Huge win f
Huge win for Patrick and ICM!
Finally someone with a smart decision in this town. ICM is really turning into the place to be. This guy would have been another stat at CAA or WME.
On what planet does JJ Abrams care what Carson Reeves thinks about a script?
I’ve known Patrick for years. He’s incredibly talented. Excited to see his work is finally being recognized.
Haha yeah, I doubt JJ will lose sleep over “carson” not caring for Aison’s script. Just read ECHO STATION – far from perfect, but it offers a really creative take on the Source Code device of time recycling. Makes it feel fresh.
Where can I get hold of Echo Station? I’m dying to read it! Thanks
I’m not one to comment on this site, but I have to on this post because Wunderkind was probably the best script I’ve read in the last decade. It honestly gave me new faith that there continues to be amazing new voices out there somewhere in the world, and if we all keep reading, we’ll find them eventually. Congrats to this kid. A true talent.
Always nice to hear from his manager.
They’ll drop him as soon as Wunderkind opens and loses everyone a bunch of money.
Patrick is a rising star with a great voice. ICM is lucky to have him and I’m sure they will have lots of success together. Congrats, Emile.
This is such great news. Going to bed now, snooze!
I think it’s really pathetic that a screenwriter needs a manager and an agent. And then is treated like some sort of celebrity. Writers are not actors. They don’t make as much and shouldn’t have to be flaunted in publications in order to make a living. Also, no offense to all the screenwriters here, but compared to (good) novel writing, screenwriting is so f-in easy. You can write a good novel and have it picked up if you’re a nobody because it’s all about your talent, but if you want your (very good) screenplay made in Hollywood you have to write a good one then kiss peoples’ asses in order to get recognized. Not saying he’s not a good screenwriter, just pointing out the complete ridiculous of it all.
