EXCLUSIVE: Incognito Pictures, a new production company led by producer/financier Jack Selby and veteran film producer Scott Stone, has stepped up to produce and finance a feature adaptation of Freeheld, the Oscar-winning documentary short. Ellen Page is attached to star and Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia) wrote the script. Double Feature Films partners Stacey Sher and Michael Shamberg are also producing with Kelly Bush and Kristina Sorensen of Vie Entertainment, James Stern of Endgame Entertainment, and Cynthia Wade. Wade directed the 2007 documentary, and Endgame developed the feature script.
Page will play Stacie Andree, who was denied the pension benefits of her longtime partner and New Jersey police detective Laurel Hester, when the latter became terminally ill. While Hester’s detective partner Dane Wells was conservative and surprised to learn of Hester’s orientation, Wells stepped up to become the leader in the fight for Laurel’s rights to assign her benefits to Andree. Page is repped by WME, VIE Entertainment and attorney Kevin Yorn, Nyswaner by UTA and Anonymous Content.

Kudos to all involved. This is a great American story that crosses all kinda of emotional and political borders. It us all that at our core we can kind and human beings despite the madness of the current political rhetoric. The short was deeply movingKudos to all involved. Oh, yay! More “Hollywood Shoving the Homosexual Agenda Down Our Collective Throat”. I can’t wait…to watch this movie likely not even make it to the box office.
So, exactly what’s the ratio of straight nuclear family movies as opposed to homosexual movies? You think they should also stop shoving the “straight agenda” down people’s throats?
As a father myself, I hate to think what kind of ignorant household you’re bringing your children up in. Either you’re a troll, or you’re just an idiot. Actually, I guess either way you’re an idiot.
Tim,
So, just to be clear with your line of thinking: A household is “ignorant” if the members of that family believe the homosexual lifestyle to be immoral?
Dude, that’s so gay.
This is great news, the filmgoing public is definitely screaming for more movies like this.
I’m confused. Didn’t they already make this movie with Adam Sandler in the lead? Stupid Hollywood. Always reusing the same ideas.
She’s certainly a bright young actress, but I’m not sure she has the best judgment when choosing roles.
A Lifetime MOW headed to a festival near you!
Congrats to Ellen, Kelly Bush (EPs manager and publicist, BTW), and everyone else for finally getting the financing to put this film together. It must be 3 years now that Ellen was first tied to the role…and her and Kelly really wanted to do this full-length feature
I pretty much can watch an Ellen Page film if it is just her being filmed reading the encyclopedia…so I am geeked about this. Only negative is that Ellen will be shaving off her pretty brunette locks for the role
