why is Josh Radnor trying so hard to be Zach Braff?
what is with the bad sitcom actors and their vanity project/movies with wall paper. at least john krasinski stopped at one (i hope)
I like what he’s trying to do, he’s just not a talented writer.
The reviews of his first film speak volumes. It’s not about Josh Radnor — Jesse Eisenberg is a talented young man who is also a terrible, awful writer.
That said, his voice sounds like mine — I quit smoking a few years back, but the cigarettes and weed make every word sound gravelly and grating. I have the same issue, but I’m not acting so it’s irrelevant. Maybe direct these small movies, I applaud him for making movies about human beings, but have someone else write them. Put you ego aside and realize that writing is a separate art form that has 1,000,000 talented practitioners. We expect the best, not something that looks like a high school student with write.
Good examples. You mention a review that also says Jesse Eisenberg is a terrible writer, as if that was relevant. Well done.
I think it is relevant, as his/her point was that actors drifting from their comfort zones work if they’re actually good writers. Both Radnor and Eisenberg are not good writers at all. In fact, Eisenberg, a bright guy, may be worse.
Radnor is so underrated. He makes real films that are hard to come by. It looks like a good one Elizabeth Olson is amazing no matter what she is in as well as Radnor.
How is this trailer defined as “hot?” Is anyone talking about this film? Happy for Radnor that he got this off the ground, and the cast are great… but having seen the film, it plays like a 35-yr-old male fantasy, and didn’t have the depth it so wished it had.
YAWN…
People who think being blase and better than everything they see always shock me. Do they know how much they’re depriving themselves of real enjoyment and elevation? I saw this film at Sundance and can’t wait to bring others to see it in theaters. The writing is GREAT! In the tradition of the BEST Woody Allen films. Did the naysayers sleep through the Allison Janney scenes? And the scenes about vampire books? And the letter-writing? Well, wake up!
Dude, it’s not as good as the worst Woody Allen films. Just because it’s aiming to be deep and intellectual doesn’t make it so. You can tell from the trailer alone. Great cast wasted. His heart is in the right place, if that’s any consolation.
Posters after the trailers seem to forget they haven’t seen the entire film. It’s just a trailer!
I’m into it.
Hi il & lo,
How’s life under that stone where you’re living now?
While you’ve been gone, Jesse Eisenberg has proven to be a very talented writer – so much that, as a matter of fact, people have started to refer to him on webpages that have absolutely nothing to do with him!
Of course if these people couldn’t post things anonymously here, they wouldn’t post them at all as they would just turn out to be either part of his jealous and long gone inferior competition who never stood a chance to begin with or simply losers who can’t even write a comment on the internet that had as much as a point.
