Hot off Magic Mike, Matthew McConaughey has signed on to play the role of Mark Hanna in The Wolf Of Wall Street, directed by Martin Scorsese. Red Granite is financing the adaptation of Jordan Belfort’s best-selling memoir The Wolf Of Wall Street, on which the film is based and is financing the film. McConaughey’s character, Mark Hanna, is the early boss and mentor of Belfort, who’s played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Rob Reiner, Kyle Chandler, Margot Robbie, Jon Bernthal also star. Terry Winter wrote the script. McConaughey just opened in the William Friedkin-directed Killer Joe.

Wow. Scorcese has lost his s**t. He used to be so good at casting.
I guess Soderbergh, Friedkin, Lee Daniels AND Jeff Nichols have also lost their s**t too for casting him recently, right?
Yep.
Who would you pick? Have you seen anything about Killer Joe. The guy can act.
Marty getting back to what made him great – procedural drama… CASINO, GOODFELLAS… if he takes the same approach with the halcyon days of wall street greed, this could be good… really good.
I guess by ‘back’ you mean the type of films he did at the mid-point of a very varied career, right?
Jonah Hill. I just don’t get it.
Inspired casting yet again by Scorsese. McConaughey has been on a roll since Lincoln Lawyer. All that unfulfilled potential lost in his romcom/action-adventure era is being more than made up for now.
I think Matthew McConaughey is a pretty decent actor when given the right material. I think this sounds like a good casting choice.
Agreed. Jonah Hill is not a good actor and is probably miscast for this role. Stick to 21 Jump Street and The Watch.
Jonah was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Money Ball. Give the dude a little credit
When over-the-top is just right this is the man to cast. Lots of people like that in real life. Hilarious in “Magic Mike;” wouldn’t have worked at all without him. He’s good. I’m as surprised as anybody. Never saw it coming.
Excited to see Kyle Chandler in a hard-hitting drama. This is looking pretty amazing to me right now.
You may not get Jonah Hill in it now but once you see him in it you will get it..
He’s come a long way from his Super Bad days..
I will be cheering him on all the way..
I think Matthew is great for this movie.
He is a Star in every sense of the word..
Martin picked a great list of Stars and Him, the Stars & the Movie will all be a Hit..
You’ll see..
Matthew McConaughey is really rolling out the movies. He is a such a believable actor, a couple of his fun movies were Failure to Launch & How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, my favorite is still a Time to Kill. You go Matthew!:) He is the hardest working man in Hollywood! I can’t wait to see the Paperboy.
Are you serious. Scorsese lost his shit and can’t cast anymore. If u actually sat down and maybe read the book, which is phenomenal by the way, you would understand that casting matthew mcconaughey as mark Hanna is ingenious from scorsese. And have you seen mcconaughy recently in Lincoln lawyer killer joe and magic mike where he gives Oscar worthy performances. So stopping judging mcconaughey from his old days of sahara the weddin planner etc and watch his new shit. Oh yea and this terrible cast I guess Terrance winters isn’t that good of a writer or jonah didn’t just get nominated for an Oscar or Leo hasn’t been nominated 3 time or dujardin didn’t just win an Oscar last year. But ur rite it’s a shit cast and Scorsese doesn’t know what he’s doing.
MR Scorsese has made carers for many actors…..shit! He’s made careers for non actors in films even. McConaughey is solid, Hill will play his part well. Terence Winters is a proven writer,(can’t wait for Boardwalk Empire’s new season) I’m sure Marty brainstormed with him in the lab as well. This will be an actual film, which we need more of! Bare in mind though to all Scorsese fanatics, he will be snubbed at least twice before he takes home an Oscar again, my I remind you Raging Bull and Goddfellas
Matthew McConaughey is so far from the real mark Hanna. The real mark is a loud, booming, funny Lebanese man. Frankly, everyone involved would rather mark not make any appearance in the movie….he and his family has suffered enough.
Whatever anybody says, they will never be the real Wall Street types, but who cares. If you want to see the real Wall Street penny stockbroker guys, they were already cast in Boiler Room. They were real but not that interesting.
So welcome to Wall Street, Marty.
Bring it on!
