Coming this fall, Live! With Kelly & Michael. The former NFL star-turned-TV personality Michael Strahan was rumored to be among the finalists for the permanent co-host to Kelly Ripa post, which had been vacant since the November departure of Regis Philbin. He will now be unveiled as Ripa’s new on-screen partner when Live launches its new season on Sept. 4, as first reported by Broadcasting & Cable. Since Philbin’s exit, Strahan has served as a guest co-host on Live a whopping 15 times, most recently on July 3. He is expected to also keep his weekend gig on Fox NFL Sunday, making for a weekly cross-country trek between New York, where Live tapes and Los Angeles from where the sports broadcast originates. Following his NFL career, Strahan also dabbled in comedy with a starring role on the short-lived Fox comedy Brothers.

I am not a regular viewer of the show but the couple times I seen him on he seemed to be a good match with her. I am just glad they found someone but I miss Regis and his stories.
CNN should hire Regis and replace Piers.

And here we go again with the morons of morning talk shows. Regis made this show. It died when he left. The end. At least Seth tried to right this sinking ship.
I was a bit indifferent to him in the beginning, but the more he was on and the more time they spent together, the more enjoyable they became as a duo. He’s really funny and tells a good story. That’s the most important part of the show, those first 15 minutes. He also relates well to guest and that will only get better. I’m in!

Terrible move by ABC, but look at their daytime schedule’s ratings now. They dumped their soaps and have seen their ratings in a free fall ever since. Katie will flop big time. The Mouse House will need a new roof by Spring.
I like the choice. I thought they had good chemistry while he was previously on the show with Kelly. Regis was getting too old and boring for the program. This may reach a younger group of people. Most folks don’t like change so it may be hard for people to grasp hold of the change.I will watch it even more with Michael Strahan as Kelly’s co-host.
The decision for Strahan is based on the fact that episodes where he guest-starred brought in the most viewers.
I have watched LIVE since it first began and was called THE MORNING SHOW back in the early ’80s. I was a fan of Regis and Kathie Lee and then became a fan of Regis and Kelly, but now I am not happy with this announcement. I like Michael, but not as a permanent host. I also have found that I don’t like the show with just one host. While I think Kelly has done a good job alone, I think the show needs two people. The show was for Regis and ABC and the producers have to come up with someone that will have a similar type personality. I’m all for moving on, but I don’t like this pairing at all. I think after all of these years, I may not be watching anymore. I really think this is the beginning of the end for the show. I will be surprised if it lasts past this coming season.

I understood football and Hostetler won the SUPERBOWL 1988. I believe Strahan had the most sacks! Yea!!! And if I’m correct Strahan’s football career was with the Giants! Never traded that alone is amazing!!!!

Does anyone remember how funny Regis was on the show? Michael is nice and I wish him well but, Josh McHale from talk soup was in my opinion the best replacement very funny and interesting during host chat.Its obvious Gelman made the choice and Kelly ALWAYS agrees with Gelman. We all know Regis made Gelman and he road on his coattails [ungratful]. that’s why he was’nt in Regis’s book.
