EXCLUSIVE: In one of its first buys of the season, NBC has gone global with a geopolitical project set at the United Nations. Described as “West Wing in the United Nations,” the drama, which has received a script commitment, follows an interpreter at the international organization’s New York HQ working with ambassadors and politicians from various countries as they deal with political and military crisis around the world. Hell On Wheels’ scribe Tom Brady is writing, Walter Parkes, Laurie MacDonald and Parkes/MacDonald’s Ted Gold executive producing. The project stems from Parkes/MacDonald’s fist-look deal at NBCUniversal, which has yielded one series, the 10-episode Crossbones based on the book The Republic of Pirates. The U.N. has long been a dramatic backdrop for film and TV. Cary Grant was filmed approaching exterior of the actual building in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958’s North By Northwest, though all interior scenes were shot on a soundstage. The 2005 thriller The Interpreter, with Sean Penn and Nicole Kidman, was actually the first film to shot inside the U.N. itself. In 2008’s The Day The Earth Stood Still remake, the aliens communicate with world leaders gathered at the U.N. A great deal of the political drama in the 2009 satire In The Loop is supposed to take place in the halls and conference rooms of the U.N., though the film wasn’t shot there. The United Nations was the primary setting of the final season of 24, as Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer dealt with an attempt to stop leader of a fictional Middle Eastern county from signing a peace treaty with the U.S. President. Tom Brady is repped by Rothman Brecher Kim.
New ‘Man Of Steel’ Television Spot #6

Are they going to portray the drama of the U.N. ignoring prosecutions of their blue-helmeted baby rapers? Now that is a drama we all need to see.
And then there must be an episode where the UN diplomats ask each other: “Whose turn is it to steal the silverware tonight?”
To be written by a Hell On Wheels (we wanted to be Deadwood II but, so far, aren’t quite the western version of My Mother The Car) scribe?
Good luck with that…
if they told the story of the evil pigs devising the GLOBAL HOAX I could laugh while mankind rose up to slay the criminally insane evil murderous thieves.
The UN is utterly irrelevant and a sham.
Once again, NBC needs to attract a broad mainstream audience and they go with a show about an entity that only liberals, a minority of the US (thankfully), love.
A show about the UN? I thought there was already a show called criminal intent.
Now that’s just funny!
Let me guess, NBC show…….krap!
They should watch the movie “UN Me” and try to incorporate some of the facts in their show.
I have worked there but never again the individuals working there are for the most part inept to say the least. Most are there to just get a great paycheck compared to what they would earn at home. They have rules that if you speak about what you see as far as anything negative about the United Nations they will fire you in a heartbeat with no appeal process. For an organization for openness, freedom and human rights it is a joke. Never again
Maybe they can show that giant loadstone altar they have.
An ill conceived show about a crooked organization in a country that on the whole despises that organization. Sounds like normal programming on NBC.
This is the kind of left-wing, globalist propaganda that we have come to expect from network TV and Hollywood, and why fewer and fewer people watch this garbage anymore.
Spot on.
Will there be an episode covering the UN oil for food scandal?
Yes but they will rewrite it to change the evil protagonists as republicans who stole all the money that the UN “collected” to give to the poor.
Yes, just what we need. A TV show spewing Liberal propaganda about another failed Marxist institution. Every time the Libs are going through another rejection of their failed leadership (Obama and Democrats) they use their media butt boys to create a fairy tale world for themselves, for example The West Wing, a portrait of Washington DC as we wish it was. The good thing is that since it’s coming from NBC it will not last long. It’s just too bad we couldn’t rid ourselves of the UN as easily.
Just what we need, another NBC hyperpartisan far left interpretation of politics, this time on an international scale. Cant think of a network that could screw up an interesting premise more.
Exactly.
If NBC shows the corruption that runs rampant throughout the UN,, it may be interesting. We know however, NBC is corrupt themselves with the tape doctoring they’ve been involved in recently. This is simply a news network with zero credibility that’s doing a show on an organization with zero credibility. NBC should start with following the money trail of Kofi Anon.
It could be a tragicomedy set during the run up to the Iraq War in 2002-2003.
I liked the UN the best when Cary Grant stabbed that guy…oh wait, really didn’t stab that guy. Sorry for the spoiler.
I though they already did that with “The Man from UNCLE”.
nbc and un propaganda film? Looks like a match made in heaven, to me.
Great! NBC creates another television show that I will never watch.
A show about a den of parasites who to gather and party at the expense of their various countries will be a winner for sure, as long as they can polish that tu*rd to a fine enough gloss. But, hey, they might be honest and portray the power mad, corrupt, drug fueled, psychopaths at the U.N. as they really are. Now that would be fascinating.
Maybe they could do an episode where Superman comes in and renounces his American citizenship.
This “show” will most certainly cast the US in the worse light. It will certainly present an anti-Republican spin too. This will be a show of how liberals want to view the world…
And NBC goes down another notch.
