luke warm trailer at best
Puke.
I like films about adults so I’ll check it out…still not sure about Olivia Thirlby’s acting, though…
This makes me feel uncomfortable, but in a good way.
saw it. boring as shit.

Looks like it could be good, but “acclaimed writer”… Take it down a notch, Lena. You’re not the first person to write a screenplay.
She is nominated for an Emmy…I think acclaimed is permissible.
from “acclaimed” writer lena dunham!?!?!
good lord. yes, she’s talented and has done impressive things so far, but you’ve got to be kidding me.
I suppose the Kardashians are now “acclaimed” performers.
Lena Dunham is the literary naked emperor. Yuck.
Case in point: “Sometimes there’s a person who you know looks right. And when they walk, that walk makes ladies turn to their window and admire.” Sounds nice until you realize it makes no sense.
I like John Krasinski, but this actually looks dreadful. It’s hard to tell if the trailer is just poorly cut, but the acting seems…….off.
I heard it was unwatchable at S2012.
Acclaimed Ry Rosso-Young? I just pissed myself with laughter.
See y’all in Venezia end of August.
John Krasinski – the latest TV actor to mistakenly believe he’s a movie star. Didn’t we already go through this with Tom Selleck, Matthew Fox, and most of the Friends cast?
Can’t John Krasinski just be an actor? Why does he have to be a TV actor who thinks he’s a movie star? Obviously this is an independent feature, he isn’t trying to open a tent pole.
NO woman would allow a woman – this woman – a sexy boho girl – to move in to her residence without serious motivating financial concerns and much sturm und drang. I don’t see this anywhere in the trailer. Watching entitled-acting, chic, overconfident white people wander like sacrificial goats into life-altering circumstances is so IRRITATING. There is no discernment or calculation or lust in this trailer anywhere, nothing life or death. Just trust fund people and their ego clouds bumping into each other. This by-the-books lifestyle tripe might have sort of flown in 2004, but…now?
It’s in the “Laurel Canyon” casual chic-revelations mode. The photography is relaxing, I guess.
I do wish Peter Sellers would show up and destroy all the cambria dinnerware collectables.
Best comment ever!!! Had me laughing. Well put clip, well put.
Amen.
Haha…very well put.
Nice – this comment made watching the trailer worthwhile
@clip Hey, I’m with you, this is almost definitely not a good movie. But you probably need to modulate your outrage about insufficient backstory based on “I don’t see this anywhere in the TRAILER.”
Nailed it.
I saw it and your comment is INCREDIBLY ACCURATE. From the “acclaimed” filmmakers to the entitled characters – it’s like, get over yourselves.
I’ll wait here patiently until that hack Dunhan’s 15 minutes are up. It shouldn’t be much longer.
There would never be this much hatred for Dunham if she were a dude. And how dare a woman take off her clothes if she doesn’t look like Megan Fox? Really, what’s this world coming to when uppity women like her are allowed to express themselves in a fresh and orignal way instead of the fat old boys writing their usual borscht belt humor on the crappy prehistoric sitcoms that clog our TVs?
Agree with you on the last one, in that women should be allowed to fail as well.
There is plenty of hatred for the men as well. I’m a feminist too.
She would be easier to stomach — and I loved TINY FURNITURE — but she would be easier to stomach if she didn’t go out of her way to bash women of color on GIRLS. Forget about the problems with the black homeless guy at the close of the first episode, all her writing does it take shots at minorities — if she were a guy, she’d have been fired.
She’s insecure that even nerd guys passed her over, and so she takes it out on Asian girls and Indian girls and even black girls. I do like her spirit and she’s very talented for sure. But she’s also a jerk and doesn’t seem to realize that a lot of people are successful in Hollywood. Chill with the PR a bit, stop being a jerk to women and minorities. It’s tasteless.
That oughta make at least 500k. How many people besides their mother needs to vote on calling someone “acclaimed”? 3? 4?
People cheating on each other is so fun! On the positive side there’s no indication Dunham will be seen naked in this
It have been confirmed, this film is not entertaining.
14:55… 14:56…14:57….
And the 15 minutes of fame clock ticks to the end…..
A very “meh” trailer, I agree, but I think the fact that Dunham is merely a co-writer (and not writer/director/star) speaks to how strong her voice is in her own work. At the trailer stage, at least, this appears to be a very luke-warm movie about nothing terribly fresh, but the complete opposite is true for Girls or Tiny Furniture. You may not like them, and you may not relate to them, but those are freshly-told stories about people who really exist.
