LONDON – August 11, 2012 – NBC’s Olympic primetime host Bob Costas will host
the London 2012 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony from Olympic Stadium alongside co-hosts Al Michaels, the host of NBC’s Olympic daytime coverage, and Ryan Seacrest, Olympic primetime correspondent. The Closing Ceremony will follow London Gold, a special presentation of the top moments and athletes of the 2012 Olympics. Coverage begins Sunday at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
Part of the Closing Ceremony will be “A Symphony of British Music,” celebrating one of Britain’s strongest cultural exports over the last 50 years, and featuring world-famous British musicians.
In the tradition of the Olympic Closing Ceremony, London will hand over the Olympic flag to Rio, the host of the next Summer Olympics in 2016. The flag will be turned over to Rio Mayor Eduardo Paes and there will be a samba- and Carnival-flavored cultural presentation by the next host city.

Hopefully they will keep their mouth shut and let the show play out. Not sure why they need a host. The so called host of the open ceremonies sucked and talked over everything. But then again the open ceremonies sucked big time.
The only thing that I disliked about the NBC coverage, was the introduction of the repellent Ryan Seacrest to the programming. I really would like to see some of the wonderful Brit musicians on tomorrow’s show, but I may have to turn the dial if that A-hole breaks into the show every 30 seconds. Whoever the exec. at NBC that thought the Olympics should be hosted by an announcer of a karaoke show should be fired.
I can just hear Costas now – “And these are the Spice Girls. As you can see, they are all an all-girl group.”
yes, by all means ignore the fact that you have Dan Patrick there and go with Ryan Seacrest.
Why even pick Seacrest the Dweeb? Go with Patrick or even Mary Carillo, but not that doofus! 10:38 PM ET, watch and hear Bob interrupt coverage to bring you a new show that will get canceled real soon called Animal Practice. We’ll be back after your late local news at the bottom of the hour for the last-half-hour of the show. How stupid can NBC get!
Seacrest was a complete embarrassment. He’s a dimwit they were stupid for hiring him for this. He’s a game show host that’s all he can ever be and it’s pathetic that NBC thinks he’s going to be the next Matt Lauer. I can’t imagine him ever interviewing anyone of substance. What would he ask Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden or Romney or Paul Ryan? Seacres
I went to London to get away from Seacrest.
Apparently, idiot viewers love their banter. I find it insulting, cloying and unbearable.
I want to hate Ryan for being on this coverage but he did bust his ass to get where he is ! I will just turn my hate to the NBC heads . Fuck man all this talent sitting on the sidelines and Bob Costas is your go to guy ?
I mean Sharon Osborn knows the language and what about Scat Kat and that Tranny Bruce Jenner . Wow I’d wake up early for that – wait I forgot it’s not live ! My bad .
Given the generally awful coverage the Peacock did for the opening ceremonies, why, oh why do they even want to try and muck up the closing ceremonies as well?
Here’s a thought for the next Games, NBC: Offer one of your myriad Universal channels as a non-voice-over simulcast of the opening and closing ceremonies. You might be surprised how many opt to watch that, rather than your constantly inane and generally unnecessary commentary.
Anything with Seacrest has been fast-forwarded through for years now, if absolutely not watched at all – AI – which sucks because I usually love to watch as much of the Olympics as possible (back-stories, interviews, and all). Please remedy this situation before Sochi in 2014.
Nbc’s coverage was awful largely throughout the Olympics. Seriously how many times did they feel compelled to flashback to bejing? But the worst, by far were the closing ceromonies. To opt out of showing the Who, after constantly billing them, for a two episode at best shitcom? That’s the only decision that was dumber than Seacrest being used.
NBC can’t do Olympics, just admit t and let someone else try, or have an uncut unnarrated version on one of your cable alternatives. I think you’ll find your rating soar.
