The Oprah Winfrey Network today announced in advance of TCA its fall programming lineup, ordering three new series for fall and three more for 2013 including a new reality show with La Toya Jackson entitled Life With La Toya. The trio of new fall shows are: Iyanla, Fix My Life, featuring author, inspirational speaker and talk show host Iyania Vanzant as she works to repair lives; Oprah: Where Are They Now?, showcasing newsmakers from the past via the Oprah Winfrey Show vault; and the self-explanatory TV Guide Magazine’s Top 25 Best Oprah Show Moments. The fall on OWN also will see new episodes of Oprah’s Next Chapter, a pair of Oprah’s Lifeclass special episodes in September, and the return of the family docu-series Welcome To Sweetie Pie’s. The celebrities featured in the Next Chapter specials include Bette Midler, Stephen Colbert, Jennifer Hudson and Kelsey Grammer. Life With La Toya promises to feature Jackson as she “juggles the many demands of her famous family, her lifelong friends, and her growing entertainment business empire”. The other pair of new shows inked for a 2013 debut include The Customer Is Always Right, which will enlist a pair of loyal customers of a recognizable company tapped by the CEO to make improvements at the firm; and Neighborvention, described as featuring families in crisis “reaching out to neighbors for a helping hand, uniting communities to help families transform”.
OWN has been bashed and battered since it debuted in 2011. But Discovery CEO David Zaslov said yesterday he’s optimistic the economic outlook will improve by late next year. Here’s the link: OWN Should Become Profitable In Late 2013, Discovery Chief Says

Wow. Looking at this blockbuster schedule of new programs, I’m betting the under on whether OWN lasts until 2014.
Why doesn’t Oprah realize we just want full access to the Oprah vault, not what she deems are moments she thinks are important? She’s been promising old episode repeats since the Oxygen days back in 2000 and never delivered anything at all! Better those shows than the godawful Dr. Phil repeats and Investigation Discovery annex shows we’re stuck with in daytime right now.
Not sure what youre talkingabout as OWN does broadcast old episodes of The Oprah Winfrey Show (as well as Dr Phil)…I see it in my TV listings all the time…Its probably just not in primetime
I hope so, I really enjoy the network and it’s the one network that doesn’t seem to talk down to it’s viewers.
Go OWN!!
Snooze.
I’m betting Oprah realizes this but doesn’t want to shoot her wad too soon. If she can filter out her vault goodies over a span of a few or several years, maybe Discovery won’t pull the plug so quickly.
I love Oprah but what made her show great, for me, were the talent
she was able to bring onto her show. The big names in the movie
industry, B’way, actors, actress, etc. And the serious side of her
show & the money she raised for good causes & the interviews she did
with great people of our time. That’s what made the Oprah show great
and, of course, herself. But not without a little help from the
above mentioned.
Whichever executive decided America wanted to see anything starring or even featuring LaToya is braindead. These execs live in a bubble, don’t watch TV, hate what they do watch, and worse yet, have no self respect. This is sad. I used to root for Oprah. Now I root for her to fail which she is doing spectacularly well.
It seems to me that Oprah Should have just retired, and left everyone still thinking she went out with a bang. But it feels like she is floundering and that’s really sad. She should have had an “EPIPHANY”.
I am not her biggest fan, but I am sure if she came crawling back to syndicated TV, many would welcome her. People like her, but not enough to watch or find or pay for OWN.
Looks like Oprah is hoping for the “Colbert Bump” – could boost her ratings!
Such disappointing news for OWN, which had such high hopes. Its line up looks like a cross between Oxygen & BET. It seems like all it is developing is b-rated reality shows and because of sweetie pies success with african americans, own is turning into the BET of Reality Shows.
BORING BORING BORING SHOWS…and MORE REHASHES OF OPRAH DAYTIME SHOW
The only thing I sometimes watch is Oprahs Next Chapter but its just featuring people that we’ve heard from endlessly – whther Kardashians or now Jennifer Hudson….Some of the episodes have been original or people who dont grant many interviews but most were same ole same ole
And Oprah, how is watching crazy LaToya going to teach me to live my best life? I dont understand how seeing unhealthy food prepared at a St Louis restaurant does that either?
“Live with LaToya” …… lol ….. has America really come to this ???
Does America really care what life is like for the least talented and least likable Jackson?
Life with LaToya would have been a ratings bomb 10 years ago. Is it possible to get negative ratings?
There is a likable Jackson ?
Discovery and OWN let go of all those people to budget for these crappy shows! Please know when to stop the hot mess of this venture.
Come on, a la carte.
I wanna see the crap hit the fan!
(-this “channel”, among MANY others, will be the first to go…)
Rooting for you Oprah.
What a joke. What David Z and the others aren’t saying is how the ratings growth is primarily thanks to ID programming, not OWN original shows. Their schedule is 95% borrowed shows from Investigation Discovery. Lisa Ling is a borefest and Lifeclass is DOA. Time to end this people.
Oprah and her crew are way out of touch with the people. I’m always blown away with her new crap. No one wants to watch Latoya. I think what the real problem is….is no one wants Oprah. She had her time. The programming is outrageously boring. Lisa Ling??? Good grief! I change the channel within seconds. The whole thing is a complete fail. Tony Robbins?? It’s all old news. Time to say bye bye.
Oh and that normal America game show…..boring beyond belief! I never sit through an Oprah show unless it’s one of those stolen from Investigation Discovery. Who wants to sit and wait to see who reacts to two kids illegally parked in handicapped. Like watching paint dry……
I just tuned for the new season of Nate Burkes only to find that it was cancelled. TOO BAD!!!!!!!!!
But this is great news for Oprah. Now she can boost ratings by producing new shows for Nate Burkes. HIs ideas are so creative and motivating for people like myself. Nate is albe to inspire the average person to gain the confidence to explore the world of decorating their own personal space and to do so economically. Please bring the Nate show back into our lives. This could be a win / win for everyone.
I absolutely love her Super Soul Sunday and similar weekend shows. There is nothing else like it on TV.
I wish she would have more spiritual leaders like Eckhart Tolle back again, and there must be others that would be new. The shows during the week are dreadful. I hope OWN survives just because of the Sunday shows, and I do really like Oprah.
