Most underrated director working today. Cahiers du Cinéma named his films the best of the past two decades – Carlito’s Way and Femme Fatale – and his work still goes unnoticed.
Can’t wait for this one.
I love DePalma and liked LOVE CRIME, but was it really a good idea to cast two actresses roughly the same age in an older/younger scenario? We’ll see.
McAdams playing the Kirsten Scott Thomas part??? WTF? This makes no sense. Even though she’s a year older than Noomi, she actually looks younger. But it just doesn’t make sense, the whole point of LOVE CRIME is that it was an older woman who had power over the younger assistant, like WORKING GIRL. That movie would not have worked if the Sigourney role was played by someone close in age to Melanie, and neither will this.
Love Ludivine Sagnier, and I’m sorry, but the point of casting one of the most beautiful and best young French actresses for that role is that she was younger and prettier than her boss, hence jealousy. Noomi’s a good actress, but I’m sorry, she’s not prettier than McAdams. She’s a bit homely. Possibly she could have been the boss with like Rachel Evan Wood as the asst – then maybe it would have worked.
Idiot remake by director who has made some decent films, but has been MIA on quality for a long time.
Unless there’s some plot twist (i.e. “The Crying Game”) that we don’t know about, I bet most guys are gonna go with Rachel McAdams over Noomi Rapace…probably most girls would make the same choice as well.
I agree. Casting the too young McAdams in the older woman part completely destroys the whole balance of power that is its main plot weight. Makes the whole pic sound and look like a Lifetime cable misfire.
Who cares how old they are. They are getting busy! That’s hot. I’m there.
Your comparison with Working Girl doesn’t have any sense. It’s true Sigourney Weaver is like 9 years older than Grifith but in the movie they play the same age and in fact Sigourney is younger (there is a concret comment about this in the movie). Sigourney was offered the part of Melanie but she rejected and choosed the other instead.
Sorry for my poor English, I don’t want to sound, I’m from Spain and just wanted to
I used to like Rachel McAdams , but she continues to make hideous film choices. Plus, she hasn’t given a good film performance in years. It is just heartbreaking to see.
State Of Play and Lucky Ones would like to have a word with you.
Rachel McAdams’ acting style is natural and unaffected and she is both adorable and beautiful. Looks like she’s stretching too. Noomi Rapace is a very interesting cinema hot house flower. De Palma’s career is a big discussion.
