Here’s a look at Gerard Butler as a retired soccer pro in Playing For Keeps. Butler’s character suffers from a roving eye that ruined his marriage and alienated his son (Noah Lomax), and he moves closer to them to try to mend the relationships. Directed by Gabriele Muccino and written by Robbie Fox, the comedy also stars Jessica Biel, Judy Greer, Dennis Quaid, Uma Thurman and Catherine Zeta-Jones. FilmDistrict acquired the NuImage/Millennium Films project at Cannes and will release it December 7th.

I actually liked it more than I thought I would.
can’t believe I actually liked a millenium films trailer! i might actually go see this one.
When it was Playing The Field, it was Gerard Butler dealing with hot soccer moms.
After watching this trailer, Playing For Keeps seems like corny melodrama. I don’t want to see Gerard Butler cry because he wants to be a good father to his son.
Every waitress/bartender in LA will laugh at Gerard if he begs Jessica Biel for her love in this movie.

What the f*ck was that?! Great premise put through the cute cycle and then spun. Love these kinds of movies and Butler is the perfect fit for something like this but this just looks hokey as hell.

It does not seem cheesy. I think sencible and honest and only single or divorced parents know that it hurts. It is more of a man loving his wife and son to be warrior because he has the courage to express their emotions. That’s true for me. And as I said, I liked more than I thought because I like the story I thought it was very simple and it is not. It looks nice. I think it will be the best romantic comedy of Gerard Butler. I wish from the bottom of my heart as it sounds corny but true. The best. : D

When the description said “Butler’s character suffers from a roving eye that ruined his marriage and alienated his son” I naturally assumed he had one of thoese googly eyes that never looks straight at you. What a let down to learn he’s just horney and chasing cougar meat. Booring! let’s get some awkward physical ailments on screen please!!!
