The Bridesmaids rip-offs were inevitable. Will Ferrell and Adam McKay through their Gary Sanchez productions just released the red band trailer for Bachelorette starring Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan, Isla Fisher, and James Marsden. Written by ex-Harvey Weinstein assistant Leslye Headland (FX’s Terriers), the low-budget indie generated some buzz at Sundance earlier this year and hits theaters September 7th:

Painfully embarrassing. Nothing funny about this so it deserves to die.
I don’t think it’s a Bridesmaids rip off. How many raunchy ridiculous male comedies get made every year? It’s always the same crap. I’m all for some ballsy female fun that isn’t a cheesy romcom.
Oh hello, McFly. It’s a total ripoff, fat chick and all. Except she doesn’t seem half as funny as Melissa McCarthy, who I will admit lived up to the hype (the film didn’t though).
But honey, if you got the pounds, you gotta have the personality to go with it, and I just don’t think you cut it.
“It’s like a Jane Austen novel on crack” is not in any way funny. That’s like using a “NOT!” joke and thinking you’re clever. The reviews of Headland’s play Assistance are pretty terrible as well. Not enough humor, and no plot whatsoever. We need more women writing and directing, not just because they’re women, but because they have talent.
It’s actually not a Bridesmaid rip-off — it’s based on a play Headland wrote back in 2007.
I enjoyed the non-red-band trailer more. Still looking forward to this.
Now this looks like an accurate BRIDESMAID movie….I know more girls who act like this than “poop in the middle of the street.” Can’t wait to see this movie!!!!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this cast. Why are they wasted on this? Looking at Rotten — it’s got a 60%. Not a single funny moment in the trailer.
60% is pretty good for a comedy. Especially a raunchy one. I have no idea whether this is good or not, but don’t use a 60% rating on RT as reason the movie is probably bad.
Oh, please. They grade comedies the same way they grade Shakespeare. Look at Apatow’s raunchy comedies — many of them have RT scores in the 90′s. Look at the reviews for all of Headland’s work: it’s not positive. That said, I’m glad that a woman is getting a chance to play in the sandbox.
Headland’s plays are hilarious! Olo why don’t you see them before hating. Missed this at Sundance but heard great things. Trailer looks good!
I’ve seen Headland’s plays. I’m sure she’s awfully nice, but the poor reviews of her work speak for her.
Saw this at Sundance and I enjoyed much more than Bridesmaids. The movie was hilarious and didn’t pull its punches at all. Also it didn’t drag on for a half hour too long (like most Apatow comedies)
This movie looks awesome. Talented filmmaker grouped with an amazing cast! How can you go wrong?

I saw the film at sundance and it’s awesome – full on bridesmaids on crack. The girls are fantastic – ESP Lizzy and isla – and the guys great too – marsden and Kyle Bornheimer are fantastic
Fisher looks unbearable… Wilson looks unbearable… Caplan looks like she’s giving it her all but the script is trying way too hard… Dunst… is in the movie?
