EXCLUSIVE: Steve Pink is in talks to direct Sexual Perversity In Chicago, the Screen Gems remake of the 1986 film About Last Night. I’m hearing that the film, scripted by Bachelorette‘s Leslye Headland, is on a fast track for an early fall start. Michael Ealy is starring (in the role originated by Rob Lowe) alongside Kevin Hart (in the Jim Belushi role), and Screen Gems is already looking for a young actress to play the Demi Moore love interest role while Regina Hall has been rumored for the other female lead, played originally by Elizabeth Perkins. The film right now is going by the original title of the David Mamet play about two single guys and their sex lives in the 70s.
The film is being produced by Will Packer and Will Gluck, the hit making producer duo. Packer produced Think Like A Man, the Screen Gems hit comedy that starred Ealy and Hart, and he’s got such films coming up as Ride Along with Hart and Ice Cube and Tim Story directing, and No Good Deed, which stars Idris Elba. Gluck produced/directed Easy A and Friends With Benefits, both of which were hits for Clint Culpepper’s shingle.
Pink, who directed Accepted and Hot Tub Time Machine, is separately in talks to helm the Bad Santa sequel, something that will happen after Sexual Perversity in Chicago, if they keep that title. UTA and Mosaic rep Pink.

Didn’t know they were going for an all black cast with this one. Interesting. Screen Gems is quickly becoming the Tyler Perry antidote, making interesting films with black casts. Think Like a Man was very entertaining. They’ve got a thriller with Idris Elba and Taraji Henson coming up, too.
Everything about this seems terrible.
David Mamet rewritten by someone with one VOD feature and a failed TV show on her resume? That’s thinking outside the box.
Why can’t Regina play the Demi Moore role? It reads
like she’s not young enough or hot enough.
It reads that way cause she isn’t. I’m not a man, but . . . . . to me there’s nothing ‘hot’ or ‘young’ about Regina.
That ‘Demi Moore’ role should be played by somebody sexy – a Gabrielle Union or a Megan Good. My vote is for Megan.
You know you must be scraping the bottom of the barrel when the best thing you can come up with is to do a remake a crappy film.
It’s a quality play and it will translate well to a new audience with this cast. No one who this version is targeted to is going to go watch a 27 year old movie with Jim Belushi in it so what difference does it make if they’re making another version of it?
Michael and Kevin Hart are blazing hot right now. Ealy is super talented and ridiculously good-looking compared to any actor of any ethnicity, and Kevin Hart is the funniest comedian working right now across the board. This should be good.
It’s a generational thing. About Last Night was a classic to me and teenager friends back then along with Breakfast Club, Fast Times, 16 Candles etc….
What cadavra said, +1
It really is unreal who gets the work these days.
Dude…you’re not doing yourself any service by thinking that way.
So much for Think Like A Man 2
I hope they actually do cast a new fresh face for the Demi Moore role. I’m tired of seeing the same actors recycled over and over again. I loved the original and I think this re-make could be great!
I’m sorry, but Regina Hall… in the role played by Elizabeth Perkins?
ROTFLMAO!!!
Since this remake is being aimed at urban (i.e., black) audiences, the most obvious picks to replace the Demi Moore role would be Gabrielle Union or Meagan Good, but I wouldn’t, rule out Jennifer Hudson either or one of the Mowry sisters.
