After a late and relatively quiet start of this year’s selling season with no major bidding wars so far, a single-camera comedy is garnering a lot of attention. The project, from Sony Pictures TV and studio-based Happy Madison, reunites the creator of last season’s midseason NBC comedy Bent, Tad Quill, with the series’ male lead David Walton. The single-camera firehouse comedy, written by Quill and to star Walton, has been pitched to all four major networks, ABC, NBC, Fox and CBS, with all of them expressing strong interest. There haven’t been formal offers yet as the pitch process has just concluded, but the project is expected to land multiple bids. Quill and Walton first worked together on the 2010 NBC comedy Perfect Couples, on which Walton played one of the leads and Quill served as co-executive producer.

Bent was soooooo good, hopefully this will last much longer, I need David Walton on my TV!
Wait, so this guy has been in two failed shows already with Tad and there’s STILL interest from all four networks?
Loved him in Perfect Couples. And 100 Questions. And Quarterlife. And…and…
Someone please get this guy an agent
No offense but why would anyone buy this show after the disaster that was Bent?
David Walton deserves points for persistence.
This is tremendous news. “Bent” was absolutely one of the best comedies last year. And David Walton’s character was one of the greatest characters I’ve seen in a long time. I am so ready to see this.
Hasen’t America made it clear that they don’t want Dave Walton on Network TV? Isn’t it time to give Mark Feuerstein another shot? He’s like a young Paul Reiser.
You’re kidding, right? Hasn’t he been kind of busy the last several years with a little thing called Royal Pains? David Walton is charming, sexy and talented. And tall. Bring me more of him.
congrats to walton and tad quill. that is quite a talented team.
Please put David Walton in something we can watch for more than 6 episodes!
I really liked Bent. Walton is a star. This could be a great thing.
I’d definitely watch it. I’m still pissed NBC didn’t pick Bent up for another season.
Tad Quill is one of the nicest, most talented guys I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Very happy for him.
I fell in love with David Walton and Bent during the first episode and was crushed when it didn’t get picked up. I’ll follow them both anywhere. A-N-Y-W-H-E-R-E.
Sidenote: PLEASE tell me he’ll be in firefighter garb for this role.
Booyah! Get this team on a real network that values their talent right. Love me some David Walton and I’m man enough to say it aight!
Could not agree more.
So obvious that the naysayers on this post have no idea how the tv business works. Quill/Walton is an all-star lineup. If this project lands at NBC, they better make up big time for boning them so hard on Bent. That was a catastrophic fumble at the one-yard line by the peacock.
David – stay away from NBC! I’m still mourning the loss of Perfect Couples. Go somewhere that will give you a shot! Love me some Walton – he was the one bright spot in Fired Up.
I hope this sells. Would be a little embarrassing to have planted a story like this and then not end up with a bidding war…
I loved Walton in NBC’s short-lived show, “Heist.”
Bent was excellent.
David Walton is the funniest guy in Hollywood today. I would buy episodes of a second season of Bent if they were $49.95 on pay-per-view. Sadly, Bent was never given a fair chance to get off the ground. I hope this show does.
NBC canceling Bent. Idiots working on that stupid network. I just hope that they choose another network, they’ve gotten screwed by the peacock network far too many times. It’s not fair.
