Not. A. Single. Laugh.
Agree 100%
Wow, I really like Aubrey Plaza a ton. She’s hilarious. But this was embarrassing. Who writes this drivel? Please give her something to shine in, or give a writer with actual talent a shot.
Exactly. And where’s the STORY?? Crude shot after crude shot does not make a film, or give us some idea of the story.
I used to find her attractive but I don’t really. Not sure why. Her schtick feels calculated now or something. Nothing was funny in this trailer except the “He’s look for his keys” delivery. The pratfall was embarrassing. So was the lame “…on Valentine’s Day… because today’s not Valentine’s Day…” thing. Mild awkwardness by itself doesn’t earn a laugh.
Ecchhh….
Not funny. don’t know who this lead is, but she becomes annoying in the span of a trailer.
Agree with Dave… I watched this and thought — what a mistake having her sit there and try and sell the movie. Because if she’s ten times as funny in the movie as she was in this trailer. She still won’t be funny. Kinda embarrassing.
How ’bout not making fun of other movies at the beginning of your smug trailer?
If you’re movie is good we’ll know, you don’t have to tell us.
Finally! Daria: The Movie! Can’t wait!!!
grinding out a paycheck – way to go Hollywood stars!!!
Isn’t that the woman from Parks and Rec? Isn’t she a comedian? Did she write that movie? Who wrote the trailer? It really wasn’t that funny right? Has crude humor become an excuse to fill theater seats with those who like crude humor? Is crude humor the new comedy?
I’m at the RNC.
Awful. Pretentious. Obnoxious. The sad part is they think they created something brilliant and wonderful and they’re so smart and edgy for making this movie. They’re so special and so hip and so modern. A sex film for girls! It’s never been done!
Hilarious script! Congratz to Maggie Carey.
I know you rep her, but don’t post her name all over the place. She should be embarrassed that she wrote this swill, not proud of it. Distance yourself and her from it, don’t swim around in the crap.
I’m not an agent, don’t rep anyone. Just a guy who had a chance to read when it was circulating under another title. I thought it was a great Sex Comedy.
Jesus that was horrible.
You guys are all too harsh. Do you just hate to hate?
I think it looks funny. I’d watch it on Netflix streaming… on a rainy day … when there’s nothing better to do….
The bit with the kid coming in on the eat out scene is funny with the excuse of looking for his keys and the topper of the kid sweetly offering to help is a great heightening on that. Take it or leave it, but it’s good joke structure.
Wow.
Hahaha Congrats on graduating from UCB’s intro to sketch writing course Shaun! We’re all really impressed by your analysis
shaun – “but it’s good joke structure”… Yeah, but it just isn’t all that funny. And the “joke structure” is basically a riff on an “American Pie” style joke. OOOOOH, I GET IT. He’s going DOWN on her and an underage kid is standing there watching, not knowing what’s going on. So it’s funny when he innocently asks to help find the keys… because they’re naked… and he’s to young to understand what’s really going on. In all seriousness, this movie looks mildy entertaining and worth a stream on Netflix or watch on cable. Not something I would make an appointment to see in the theater. The trailer should be funnier and doesn’t quite deliver.
So you know how to structure a joke. How about learning to structure a sentence, yeah?
I never graduated, they kicked me out for smoking pot. And I wasn’t a hipster.
Man, you guys are easily impressed.
Wait, what? They kicked you out for smoking pot? Everyone in UCB smokes, though. Explain a bit further if you feel comfortable.
Did you really get kicked out for smoking pot? I mean, the entirety of UCB smokes! Can you explain this further?
Bad trailer, but I’m gonna see the movie because I like Aubrey Plaza and heard good stuff about the script. But again, bad trailer!
Maybe the film will be better than the trailer. Cause it just looked like an Apatow/Cody mash-up, minus Michael Cera or Seth Rogen. (Oops, there’s Bill Hader, so….). It still couldn’t be as bad as last year’s rom-com “Valentines Day”.
Wow, a thread with comments by vicious, petty, failed wannabe writers who have never sold a story in their lives, sitting around in mom and dad’s basement, masturbating, kvetching and crapping. Never seen that before on Deadline.
Say what you will the trailer, but these people got a film produced. What have you done this decade?
