Girls‘ Lena Dunham was a junior in high school when The Daily Show With Jon Stewart won its first Emmy for best variety series! Tonight, Comedy Central’s fake newsmagazine won its 10th in a row in the category. Stewart felt almost embarrassed accepting the trophy. “We were told we get a free sandwich after 10,” he said onstage. “Years from now, when the Earth is just a burning husk, aliens visit, they will find a box of these and they will know just how predictable these fucking things can be.” The Daily Show crew were the only Emmy winners not to make themselves available to reporters backstage.

Daily Show’s trophy comes on the heels of its win for Best Writing for a Variety Series category at the Creative Emmys last week to complete the political satire program’s staggering dominance. In addition to winning 10 straight best variety series Emmys, it also has won the writing variety series category eight times in the past 12 years.

STOP bringing up Lena Dunham in every article. She lost.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Now that is funny..
YES! Thank you for taking the words out of my mouth. Sick of hearing about her.
I’ve seen 3 episodes of “Girls.” Lena Dunham is still a junior in high school, isn’t she? And she’s the one in the theater club just DETERMINED to one day be a legitimate DRAMATIC actress! All the self-seriousness and self-involvement of Lea Michele’s character in “Glee,” but none of the talents.
As long as HBO is cancelling TREME, will they please, also pull the plug on GIRLS!! Please! America is begging you.
