First impression: A lot of actors doing really bad “southern” accents.
I think the trailer was so-so, because of the great cast, it definitely has potential. What worries me that it looks very twilighty, though I guess the marketing department has to make it look that way. And for a second, I thought the male lead is Sam Worthington, he definitely looks like a young doppelganger.
The male lead is Alden Ehrenreich who Francis Ford Coppola discovered for the lead in TETRO in which he was fabulous in. He’s going to be like the next Emile Hirsch or James Franco. Extremely talented!
The pitch in the room; “It’s twilight, but the girl is the supernatural creature and the boy is human.”
Sold.
I love this directors previous work, as well as the cinematographer, and a lot of these actors, but…..this TWILIGHT shit has got to stop.
I didn’t respond well to this. First, the male lead looks way too old to be playing a teenager and is, as per usual in American films, a bit too wise for his alleged years (specifically regarding his last line in this trailer. I doubt teenagers talk like that.) Second, like zanzaffer, I thought some of the southern accents were overdone. Why don’t these movies get dialect coaches? It looks like it had great potential but comes off as slightly cheesy. And I personally have zero interest in the trials and tribulations of teenagers. If this story was applied to adults, I think it’d be more compelling.
I love Emmy Rossum and Richard LaGravenese, so I’m definitely intrigued.
A lot of great actors doing terrible accents in an embarrassingly cheesy trailer. I liked the book, but this adaptation looks awful.
If you’ve read the book you’ll know that this story is nothing like twilight ,It’s written from a boys perspective and It moves away from the whole vampire story. This movie adaption of the story will either be really good or really bad but you can’t judge it just yet and certainly not if you haven’t read the books.
i love the book and having loved the book so much I was a bit skeptical with the casting at first, but after seeing the trailer…oh, dear! i love it, and Ethan and Lena were just right. I mean, they’re not supposed to the oh-so-gorgeous kind. it was even realistic in a sense. i am looking forward to this film and i hope that it doesn’t disappoint.
