It’s a heated contest between conservatives vs liberals in the political documentary genre, too. 2016 Obama’s America grossed $26.2M by end of today (give or take some bucks) and passed 4 of Michael Moore’s five political documentaries to become the #2 all-time biggest. Only Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11, his highly critical
examination of the first term of President George W Bush, retains the #1 position with $119.1M. It’s extremely unlikely that 2016 Obama’s America will make even half that. But it now has made more money (not adjusted for inflation or higher ticket prices) than Moore’s Sicko (2007 – $24.5M), Oscar-winner Bowling For Columbine (2002 – $21.5M), and Capitalism: A Love Story (2009 – $14.3M). The right-wing doc 2016 Obama’s America is produced by Gerald R. Molen who in fact credits “learning some lessons” from Moore. “When he released Fahrenheit 9/11 in 2004 ahead of the election, it sparked intense debate.” 2016 Obama’s America also has passed the box office for Al Gore’s and Davis Guggenheim’s An Inconvenient Truth (2006 – $24.1M) and is the #1 biggest-grossing conservative political docu ever (besting Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed’s $7.7M).
The Rocky Mountain Pictures film benefitted from the runup to the Republican National Convention. Now the anti-Obama film is hot in 2012′s battleground states where GOP candidate Mitt Romney and President Obama are campaigning the heaviest: Florida, Ohio, Colorado, Virginia, Georgia, Illinois, Arizona. (California and New York and Texas also are listed in the Top 10 states contributing the most gross dollars to the documentary’s box office.)
Based on conservative author Dinesh D’Souza’s 2010 best-selling book The Roots Of Obama’s Rage, it initially opened in only one theater in Houston on July 13th, then expanded to 1,000+ theaters and now 2,000+ locations. by Friday. 2016 Obama’s America is co-directed by D’Souza and John Sullivan and produced by Academy Award winner Gerald R. Molen (co-producer of Schindler’s List). 2016 Obama’s America detractors decry it as a slick infomercial heavy with conspiracy theories. But D’Souza says he made the film to motivate moviegoers to question what an Obama second term would look like.
Its success was aided by savvy marketing: exhibitors were reporting busloads arriving at theaters around the country in pre-organized trips. It also employed much of the same selling techniques used to garner attention and support for faith-based films, understandable since the audience is overlapping. Its campaign included advertising nationally on talk radio and cable news channels including Fox News Channel, A&E, History and MSNBC.

I truly hope this is a sign that big government is facing its end. Incremental policies that add up to socialism must be stopped. Liberty is precious and fragile.
Don’t post here unless you’re for the obama campaign. I hope this film continues to break records. Just because you don’t have the same views as Dinesh doesn’t make it a Hate film. Barack Obama is not a bad man, just a terrible President.
Wrong, Obama is both a terrible president and a “bad man”. How you can watch Obama2016 and not come away with that fact tells me you have NO discernment.
oh, crap..Dinesh D’Souza made a film about an OPINION…that and a buck will get you a half cup of coffee these days. Book? What book? Obama’s book? What about all the interviews that D’Souza did with Obama live…oh…wait…that didn’t happen..he’s never done that., so how the hell can he know what’s in Obama’s head? He can’t…it’s all propaganda…not based in fact.
Problem is the film is based in bullshit
Well, there you have it–a thoughtful, well-reasoned reply to a well-researched book and its movie version. Thank you for your insights.
His insights are every bit as thoughtful, well-reasoned and well-researched as the film, which is indeed bullshit. And yes, I saw it.
Actually, the film uses verifiable quotes from Barack Hussein as well as direct excerpts for the books Obama claims to have written…he wrote them…he is quoted in the film.
Yes we know. It examines Obama’s past, a topic that until this film released was composed entirely of bullshit.
As with most right wing conspiracy theories – which is what this movie is… basically a “best of” of far right tin foil theories which should terrify the logical and reasonable American. Well researched it is not… he read Obama’s books and took things he said out of context and used zany guilty-by-association reasoning. It’s pure bunk.
You’re 1/2 right. He is bad on on both accounts.
Nicely said, “freedom”
Well said!
Everyone I speak with have experienced what I experienced- people stay after the film and give it a long standing ovation. And the theaters are packed!
Exactly our experience, went to Sunday 5:00 or so showing, thought would be few people but was packed, and I wanted to clap but someone else started and more & more started to clap.
Keep the myths alive
I went to see this film and was bored to death. It’s one mans view of his screwed up mind set. This country is going to fail for one reason only. Greed! Do you really think Obama wants to stop the free enterprise system? Don’t blame him for the mess were in. Do you really think the economy sits on the shoulders of one man? Boy do I have a bridge I want to sell you. To hell with the puppet heads! Get off your fat asses and get on with your life!!!
John, I doubt that you saw the film yourself as a great deal of this film is in Obama’s own words. D’Souza used talking book excerpts narrated by Obama to prove the points he is making. Obama has an agenda and it is not pro American. I am not willing to give him another 4 years to complete his mayhem.
He took Obama’s words way out of context and here is one example. When Obama was supposedly remarking on the “white man’s greed”, he was actually quoting somebody else. Those were not Obama’s words but they were being portrayed as such. The movie is a farce and it did not effect the election, another Fahrenheit 911 parallel.
I found it interesting, I think it does a good of job of explaining the possible motives behind the president’s actions. Considering how bizarrely confused our foreign policy has been, the president’s choice to keep the economy as bad as it is, and in particular the monetary policy we have adopted, the increasing of the money supply to weaken all Americans’ purchasing power. I think it is the most reasonable explanation yet. It seemed to me that the president is a puppet of his many masters, an perhaps did not understand the ramifications of his decisions. I can see now how he could be making logical choices based on his back ground, rather than being just an empty suit, as I had previously thought.
When I was a kid and watched movies with my parents that had an adult theme I too was bored out of my mind.
Was there anything in the movie that wasn’t factual? The President sets the tone of the Nation, in theory he’s suppose to be the ‘leader’ the Chief Executive. The tone that this current occupant is to knock wealth, but yet he’s wealthy. He’s more than happy to open his mouth without facts. He’s more than happy to force more unsustainable programs down out throats and uses very faulty accounting, I’m being generous here, to shore up his policies that have been proven time and time again to fail. So, while I’m sorry you were bored most of us with an open mind found it to be enlightening.
of course his mind is screwed up…No doubt you voted for Obama…I saw the movie, and there was simply fact offered. Fact about Obama’s actual policies since he has been Dufus In Chief. D’Souza then uses Obama’s own words in his own book to detail who he loved to be around and what burns inside him…D’Souza provides facts, and leaves the movie goer to decide why Obama does what he does. D’Souza simply offers his own theory and says its his own. You can judge for yourself, but clearly one thing is certain. Obama is not wanting the United States to exist as it has for 200 years. His words and deeds have told us that, we dont need the movie to tells us that Obama does not want this country to be a superpower, or an exceptional nation. Those that doubt it, see the movie, hear Obama’s own words.
I agree.
This is an educated estimate of the President’s policy agenda. Or, one man’s speculation of the Current President’s agenda.
We should take it with a grain of salt and judge base on our own research. Mr. D’Souza’s guess is as good as anyone’s theory, as long as this person did as much research as Mr. D’Souza.
Sort of like the movie “An Inconvenient Truth”, right.
Whether Obama wants to “stop the free enterprise system”, who knows? For sure, given his way, he would tax it out of existence. Good grief, how many delegates at the Dem Convention said that they would support legislation banning corporate profits?
In denial, John. In denial
Dear John…..(oh boy…) if you got bored by this amazing movie, you are a real product of our school system, one track oriented mind.
I am very sorry for you, I came from an ex “democratic” republic of the est Europe, masters in regulating minds, but as you can see I am still able to think on my own. Keep drinking the koolaid that your masters are serving you, do not think or search, keep believing all the crap served to you and one day (it looks very soon if your idol will be ri-elected) you will end in the same paradise that I escaped. Enjoy freedom till it last!!
You must have slept thru the movie to have such a distorted view. Go see it again and take some no doze tablets.
Replying to John Czaplewski – Your comment is one man’s view of his screwed up mind set.
I guess when something is out of your depth,it is pretty boring…
Sorry, but your comments don’t make sense regarding the movie. I don’t believe that you went to see it. You should go see it and find out what makes Obama tick. Hint – it isn’t capitalism that is the biggest problem.
Good Grief! How shallow and gullible can you be…don’t swallow the lies. Where is the evidence? Obama 2012 we need him more than ever.
I suggest you read Obama’s auto-biography “Dreams FROM My Father” and then make a more intelligent assessment of D’Sousa’s documentary. Your in-depth analysis concerning greed is moronic tripe.
john, judging by your post, you’ve already bought the bridge.
I usually take a nap on Sunday afternoons, however this movie kept me wide awake and interested. Matter of fact I enjoyed it so much I went with a friend on Monday. Now who ever goes to a movie on a Monday at noontime. I thanked the manager of the theater for having the movie. She told me it has been there most popular movie for the past 2 weeks.
John
The economy sits on the shoulders of several…who were selected as advisers by Obama to manage the economy. They haven’t had much luck in turning things around, but exceedingly good press from the mainstream media on blaming the former administration…even almost 6 years after the fact…
fun fact…I’m not better off financially than I was before Obama. My net worth is half what it should be and government and business is nickle and diming me at every corner…keep your progressive politics, your hope and change
Im pretty sure that the film Fahrenheit 9/11 was not referred to as “left-wing film Fahrenheit 9/11″. But in this article and many others reviewing 2016, the film is referred to as “right-wing”. That immediately pre-judges the movie so that anyone who wanted or thought about seeing it, may not because they think its just a political hack-job by the right-wing.
Because it is the GOP’s film. Film making seem to be the GOP’s last resort to hurt Obama, but thankfully there are still thinking people left in America. The anti-Muslim political film to disrupt the relatively quiet Muslim world (somebody needs to follow the money trail), The libelous Dreams nonsensical film that denigrated Obama’s mother’s memory and now this foolishness to appease the gullible crazies in the GOP. Congress not giving him any support, voter ID laws to ensure that Romney wins certain states. Romney himself secretly telling business people to tell their employees not to vote for Obama and the list goes on and on when will you people stop the nonsense and play by rules that are honest and with integrity. I don’t know if Mormons believe in the 10 Commandments including “Thou Shalt not lie” if so, somebody needs to remind Romney.
Sorry to interrupt…….
I just have a question……
Why did Mr. Michael Moore build this?
Fahrenheit 911 was a great film, so is this. Go see it if your are undecided about who to vote for. Moore’s movie did not help Bush from being elected but hopefully this one does.
Translation – the evil black man must not get back in the white house ever again or we will go into 1000 years of darkness. SMDH
I’m guessing you haven’t seen it. Dinesh D’Souza and the content of this documentary are as far from racist as imaginable. The race card is an incredibly lazy play when there are no signs of it’s relevance other than the fact that Obama is indeed black. By the same token, I could translate your comment this way “the evil indian must not be listened to or he will brainwash us”.
But Barack Obama is not “black”.
He is bi-racial; half black Kenyan, half Kansas white girl.
That might be one of the main reasons so many people voted
for him in 2008….only to be let down and disappointed.
Spot on, Denty. There is nothing racist about the movie. As I told friends of mine, the movie probably won’t change any minds, or votes, but it will enlighten some of his supporters who have just blindly supported him for what he promised, not what he has/had done. Running from the truth doesn’t change the truth.
This film has nothing to do with race. See it and then comment.
I agree, it’s unlikely you’ve seen it. I paid the money for the ticket to actually SEE the movie, and was surprised how gentle D’Souza was with Obama. It is not a ‘political screed’ or hack job.
In fact, as a person, one is sympathetic with Obama. His childhood must have been horrific, and his mother a veritable nightmare. One does develop a greater understanding of the ‘person’ Obama. It does however, completely reinforce one’s desire to NOT HAVE THIS PERSON AS PRESIDENT OVER THE NEXT 4 YEARS! It would be ten times the disaster his first four years have been.
Heh, those racist Indians just don’t want the blacks to get ahead, right?
Right
I hate reflexive race posing. Right or wrong the movie should engage your brain before you hit the post button.
Always judge an action by the dermatological hue of the actor? Very bright. Maybe a caucasian serial criminal and a caucasian repeat crime victim could be judged differently from one another based on something other than color theory?
You are correct!
Typical response from the ignorant Left – someone who has not seen the movie yet sees fit to pass judgement on it….. and play the race card at the same time.
Dinesh D’Souza has darker skin than Obama. But, it’s typical that you resort to race-baiting when you can’t debate, let alone defend this president’s ineptitude.
I did not see even a little bit of racism in this movie. In fact, the author himself is a minority in this country. When a person has nothing to contribute but a charge of racism, it usually means they can’t really figure out how to counter the message.
To quote Jim Carey’s Grinch, “You’re an idiot!”
I just find this incredibly unfair during an election year. There should be a Romney 2016 as well. It really is sad that there are so many groups just spreading hate.
Romney doesn’t need a movie to tell America what a bad choice he would be. He’s doing that all by himself.
No, the news media is trying to decide this election and sway the voters, same as in 2004. On the Google News page, nearly every Romney story is negative, and nearly every Obama story is positive, and that’s due to spin, not facts. The same-old, same-old…
Sgt Pepper: There was no presidential race in 2004. The ’04 election validated voter frustration at the Clintonian Socialist takeover attempt. We must remain ever vigilant stewards of our constitutional republic and keen students of history. Semper Vigilans!
Correcting my mistake. Of course there was a presidential election in ’04. I’ve lost a decade somewhere! I was thinking of ’94. Hmmm…. Must. Seek. Counseling.
How so Jimmy? It is pretty funny how that kind of where the left’s arguments begin and end
It’s interesting to read the negative comments on the film – since MUCH of the dialogue in the film is OBAMA IN HIS OWN WORDS. Do they object to THAT???
Bizarre.
taken out of context…manipulated, to say the least
Fahrenheit 9/11 was released during an election year. Did you find that unfair? Was that “really sad”? Also, what is the hate that D’Souza is spreading? The main crux of the film is Obama, in his own voice, reading from his own book and D’Souza examining the meaning of his words by talking to Obama’s friends and family, the people who know him and where he came from. What about that sounds hateful?
I read the book and saw the film. As you say D’Souza doesn’t present any “hateful” information. In fact he points out that his own skin color is darker than Obama. What makes the movie and the book interesting is that D’Souza points out how similar his and Obama’s backgrounds actually are. That unique perspective is what caused D’Souza to have an insight into Obama that no one else seemed to recognize. I am not aware of any information presented that is being disputed. None. It is almost all taken from Obama’s own words and the rest is all meticulously documented. Obama may be a “nice guy” and good at reading from a teleprompter, but he is absolutely the worst president in any of our lifetimes. He is a complete disaster and this film does a good job of explaining why he has done so much that is bad for this country.
lets asume you wrote a few books about company management and finance and have a few degrees in economics from somewhere and you are looking for an new job and Kodak opens up and hires you to run the Company …so you come aboard get a very nice salary $$$$mils and then you look at the books And the pot is empty Kodak is broke …yes it has tons of patents …GMs ..nobody wants to buy them ….moore and your guy are in the same business making $ out of stupid CITIZENS like you sorry think before you write
I have also read the book but have not seen the movie. His background and anti-colonist attitudes are explained with no malice. These attitudes are counterproductive to the ideals of America and will destroy this country if he is allowed to implement them. No matter what your party you should read this.It is enlightening to say the least
The movie is an excellent documentary explaining as best as possible this very complicated man. For those of us who have been trying to figure out what motivates President Obama, there is nothing new in the film to a certain point………. What is stunning is what the world could/would like in 2016 if he is reelected. Every young person should see this movie and read everything they can on both sides of today’s issues to make our elected officials work for our vote and hold them accountable.
Steven M’s comments are right on. Anyone looking at this movie with an open mind will have numerous questions about Obama’s motives. The President spoke the truth when he said he wanted to fundamentally transform our country. Biden recently said Obama would rebuild our country from the ground up. I don’t find that enouraging, but again it speaks to Obama’s motives. Wake up America! Our country is under attack.
Thanks for one of the best analysis posted.
Very good analysis. Thanks.
After Far. 9/11 and every other Moore movie, a cottage industry springs up showing the liberties taken with faux fact, misleading editting and outright lies of these crockumentaries. I await these analyses of 2016 but until I read them or see for myself, one might want to compare it to something a bit less shady and suspect.
The movie does show a lot of hatred. The hatred that Obama has for America and Americans, Black White, all of us.
Obama has turned out to be the most racist President since J. Carter. No one benefits from Obama’s policies, especially Black people.
If he is reelected it will only get worse for all humanity the world over…
What the left finds ‘hateful’ is that they’re not the ones that came up with a factual documentary. They have zero problem debasing women, mention Palin and watch the spittle and hateful comments flow. They speak of tolerance but only for the Right, not for them.
Fahrenheit 9/11 came out summer 2004…do you think that was accidental?
As the article mentions, Moore’s documentary about G.W. Bush was put out during the 2004 election year. Was that unfair? Should there have been an anti-Kerry documentary out at the same time?
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Really and all those Michael Moore movies were fair? Come one so someone finally made a film about a Democrat and now you cry foul?
The reason is dear……..Romeny has no evil in his pastlike Obama has……see the movie, know who Obama is…then my dear be very afraid…….
Now you whine. Where were you you when Fahrenheit 911 came out? Even the lib movie rags didn’t call it an anti-Bush but a patriotic documentary. Bite it.
But, you find it fair that the White House grants a Hollywierd filmmaker unrestricted access to highly classified information regarding the bin Laden raid, which I am sure (with the approval of the White House) will portray an accurate account of Obama’s, oops, …… I mean the SEAL’s raid which killed bin Laden.
So pointing out relevant facts about where a man’s ideology comes from is hate?
I believe michael moore made a very uncomplimentary movie on bush so its been done. Romney is not our president yet. Obama is and as such deserves to be vetted. The vetting of obama wasnt done first time through. So many unanswered questions on this man so now we get to see what formed this man and his socialistic views. Im sure if romney becomes our president a movie on him will be done. Why make a movie on romney before being president when it wasnt done with obama. Oh right its always different when its appears to be against the left. Where is the outrage on left over gas prices. We are now at 3.89. When gas hit 1.85 on bushs clock the left was all in arms calling him all kinds of names, oh i forgot he isnt a liberal and doesnt have the media in your pocket and actually covering the stories in a fair manner
Jake:
“2016″ is not spreading “hate”.
In fact it is a chronological, historical documentary,
which clearly defines who Barack Hussein Obama really is.
Almost every single person of any import in his life was
an avowed communist….his family, friends, colleagues
and mentors such as Frank Marshall.
This fact alone should give us all pause as to how this man relates to a democratic republic.
Go see the movie and then get back to us.
Obama does have his backers; it’s called the MSM such as MSNBC, ABC, etc. Crying about one film is childish! Did you display the same outrage when Michael Moore released his multiple films of Bush? I thought not…
To Jake: “It really is sad that there are so many groups just spreading hate”. One benefit of your seeing this film w/b the personal realization that you have bought into a lie. Disagreement with Mr. Obama’s agenda (You don’t really know what it is!) is NOT hate – its founded on a core AMERICAN value called FREEDOM.
There doesn’t need to be an anti-Romney film. There is MSNBC, ABC, CNN, Politico, NBC, etc. They do the job every day…..for free.
2016 is NOT anti-Obama anyway. Unless the truth about Obama is “anti”.
The libs HATE the truth……
F9/11 was anti bush so that is Ok.
Unfair? Like the WHITE HOUSE leaking classified info to make Obama seem like some super hero? Unfair? Like the movie-maker getting unprecedneted access to make a movie about the raid that killed Osama? When you were born, did your parent(s) tell you that life was “fair”? It isn’t.
Jake, I’ve been teaching for 26 years and this is one of the most engaging and thoughtful, politically relevant films I’ve ever watched. There is no hate anywhere in the film. Your comment makes it obvious you haven’t seen it and don’t intend to. You only want to play the race card with absolutely no evidence… weak sauce from a weak mind.
2016 isn’t spreading hate it is spreading information. Most of Obama’s zombies have no idea who the man really is. They only know what they IMAGINE him to be, and they hold him up as some kind of super-human savior. Dinesh D’Souza attempts to shed light on the VERY murky past of our current President. Much of the movie is actually narrated by Barack Obama himself. How can you claim that someone is slandering Obama with “hate” when they are only using his own words explaining or making a point?
Jake, the problem is that you don’t know/understand history well enough to see Obama for who he is. How many times have we looked back at awful times in the past said “how could they not have known who this guy was?” It is called propaganda, and America gorges itself on propaganda daily and doesn’t know it. This is one of those times, and you are one of the clueless rabble that has been duped into a false image of Barack Obama by the media and Hollywood. Time to wake up.
It’s not hate…it’s a point of view based on facts. Get it right!!
Why weren’t you screaming about Michael Moore’s Farenheit 911?
You mean like when Michael Moore put out his films? What’s good for the goose…..
Libs have no memory. Remember Gore’s movie? Remember Moore’s movies? They are all brainless liberal propaganda and now you whine about one conservative movie. You are the same brain dead watchers of news from ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and most big city (liberal) newspapers that complain about the only conservative news; Fox. WHINERS!!!
Yeah, it’s only okay when Michael Moore does it. Film makers on the Left actually made and released a film where Bush was assassinated. Are you kidding about it ‘not being fair’? Stop whining. You guys never bothered to vet Obama and now you’re not even curious about who the man really is and what motivates him politically / ideologically. He’s the President! He is the most accountable man on the planet! You just think voting for him makes you a good person. Well, it doesn’t. It makes you a willfully ignorant child.
Unfair? LOL! How about the 24/7 hate speech from Democrats over the last decade? After years of Michael Moore’s grossly and obscenely unfair “documentaries” it’s about time you had a little of your own medicine. Can’t take it? Typical liberal phony.
I bet you didn’t feel that way when Fahrenheit 911 was released prior to the 2004 elections.
This movie would not be necessary, if the Media did their job 4 years ago. We would know almost nothing about this man, the way he was raised, or how his belief system came to be(or what he believes about our Constitution or our Country). We now have more information about Romney’s father than we have about either Obama’s father or his stepfather.
Curious if you were out there saying the same thing about Fahrenheit 911? how about the gictional one that showed Bush being assasinated, fair huh? I agree its not fair, neither were the others, you would agree of course
Talk to Michael Moore. He’ll tell you there is nothing there to make money on.
Have you watched this movie? After reading you comment, I doubt it.
There is no “hate” in the film. However it is full of many insights into the person of Obama and the influences that made him who he is. After viewing the film, I came away realizing that he simply has a 180 degree world view of most americans.
Jake, sounds like you have a movie to produce and direct. Good luck. I for one will be there.
Couldn’t agree more. I refuse to believe the American people are stupid enough to elect Obama again. But then there were an awful lot of trained seals at the DNC.
this seal will vote for Obama again,,,as will all my seal friends.
ar ar ar ar
get used to it cause we’ll be around for another 4.
Dude get your seal sound right it’s “ort ort ort ort….dead fish yum mm m yum…… ort ort ort” or did you mean SEAL as in navy
You aren’t a SEAL. In fact, you’re a disgrace for imitating one.
Count me in as another seal and judging by the polling, there’s enough seals out there to elect this man for four more years despite this right-wing propaganda drivel masquerading as a “documentary”. To call this a documentary is akin to saying Paul Ryan is a economist. Wrong on all counts.
So then you believe Obama was lying in his book “Dreams from My Father”? That’s what the entire film is based on and Obama’s voice, reading his own words, narrates the film. You should probably watch it before declaring yourself an expert on it.
It’s based on the director’s well known conspiracy theories. If you don’t understand how you can take quotes out of context to make them fit your own agenda, you haven’t been following politics for very long.
See the movie and judge for yourself. A lot of us independents have done so.
What you call “conspiracy theories” are a framework D’Souza has constructed using Obama’s own words and the facts of his life to explain his policies. D’Souza drawn the conclusion these policies are negative but it could be equally argued that yes, the US is the 1% of the world and wealth should be redistributed toward the third world and the victims of Western imperialism and colonialism. So see the movie and then 1) debate the validity of D’Souza’s theory and 2) if true, whether Obama acting on it is globally positive.
I am an independent and I saw the movie. While it makes a conservative argument, it is NOT racist, vitriolic or based on conspiracy theories. It is a fair part of an honest debate. While most of it does not show Obama in a positive light, it is certainly not an evil hit piece. People should hear the argument it makes and decide for themselves. I saw two of Michael Moore’s documentaries. Making a political argument in a political year is not such a bad thing. If you are offended that diversity of opinion exists, then listen to the other side and make your argument. I found the movie much more thoughtful and intelligent than either party’s convention.
“Conspiracy theory” implies an imaginary motive on the part of people trying to change the world. President Obama’s motives are a matter of public record. That is why this movie (2016) is not a conspiracy theory, but rather a clear examination of the facts. I grew up in a family like President Obama’s. From his perspective, President Obama is doing the moral thing when he tries to spread the wealth and bring down American advantages. Americans of all political stripes should embrace this reality before they vote in November.
Dolt!
“It’s based on the director’s well known conspiracy theories.”? “Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean people aren’t out to get you.” I don’t care about “conspiracy theories”. I do care about facts. And the facts of Barrack H. Obama’s life before & after his election do bother me. I’m more suspicious of his “transparent” administration than Romney’s money.
carefull editing always does wonders….if you carefully edit your husbands or wifes utterings all day you might have an case for divorse………….love you too
In this case, the message comes through loud and clear. It doesn’t require ‘careful editing’ just ears to hear. Which you’ve not done yet.
Ah well, you may get your wish: a nation of blind people unwilling to even listen to those who would speak truth. Our kids are the ones who will suffer most. But at least it will be clear who did this.
If Obama wins, I suspect it will mean the death of the Democrat party as well as the mainstream media, because the long term impact will be so great. And if you think I’m crazy, it’s because you haven’t taken the time to discover Obama’s motivation and direction.
One little example from the movie to ponder: why did Obama shut down northern Gulf oil drilling, while at the same time pouring billions into Latin American nations to drill in the same ocean? Makes no sense… unless he is an anti-colonialist, imagining the US got its wealth not by creativity and hard work but by stealing from others… and he’s gonna cut us down to size.
Remember: in his view, YOU are an evil one percenter. Everybody in the US is.
Not a SEAL but a Ranger. Hope that counts. I am certainly not going to vote for Romney, since he considers us not important.
No, it doesn’t count.
Please explain.
how so?
Paul Ryan does in fact have a BA in Economics which qualifies him as…an Economist.
Have you even seen the movie?
Jose, you are a typical LibTard professing to be an expert on something you have not seen. You don’t have the “guts” to see Obama 2016 because It will prove how wrong you and your “seal friends” are about this guy. You dumb seals can not be re-educated, you must be defeated in order to save this country from another 4 years with Obama.
You should see it before commenting, but why start dealing with facts
The entire movie is from Obamas mouth, are you saying you don’t believe your liar in chief?
Curious…
you didn’t mention if you saw the movie…
OMG I’ve always wanted to be a trained seal!!
Those that have carried the mantle of SpecOPs – tend not to brag or announce their affiliation to such things.. the Yellow *BS* flag is thrown…
Do you mean trained Navy Seals, because it’s now the democrats that score higher on defense issues.
again – how so?
just proof that idiots will believe anything
Calling people idiots because they watched a movie or read a book is, well, idiotic.
your words sure prove that…
I can’t wait for the inevitable sequel, 2020: ROMNEY’S AMERICA.
OBAMA 2012
romney 1040
We already vetted Romney. Obama was never vetted, so he’s being vetted now, and it scares you. You fools just voted for whoever you thought he was. But, to be fair, Obama is handsome and talks a bunch of flowery BS – and that’s usually good enough for shallow liberals.
Not bad for a filck about an empty chair
Doesnt matter who you Americans vote in…the rich will still get richer
Of course they will. Should they get poorer?
I have to say, it was incredibly fun to see the man who created this documentary go on Real Time with Bill Maher and have his conclusions in the film completely lampooned by Maher. Some of the ideas were just based on assumptions that Obama even has anti-colonial tendencies or even the same beliefs as his father.
Maher got his clock cleaned, you drone!
honestly if you thought maher bested dsouza on that show – you obviously are as clueless as that odd freak himself.
“…have his conclusions in the film completely lampooned…”
Absolutely. When you can’t rebut, mock.
I demand to see Dinesh D’Souza’s birth certificate!!!
Go see the movie before you make any comments. There is nothing in the movie about birth certificates, social security numbers, college transcripts.
Why? Is he running for president? Actually, Dinesh D’Souza has gone through the process of becoming a US resident. He doesn’t pretend that he was born anywhere but India.
Another RovenKoch production, same genre as the Regnery “best sellers”. It’s all about stoking the fires of racism and protecting/ stuffing billionaire bank accounts.
D’Souza nailed it. As a former liberal who voted for Clinton in 92, I understand Obama’s point of view: programmed, sophomoric hatred of America and the West; just how I thought and felt in the 80s when I was in college and I voted for whoever ran against Reagan. Look, anyone out there still defending Obama, at some point you have to let go and admit your mistake, unless you are as Obama is exposed to be in this film…there really is NOTHING to vote for in Obama, only things to vote against and this film explains why.
Searching for and telling the truth is racism?
Generally speaking the American people – this is my opinion – feel they’re at the mercy of forces that are far greater than what they and their family can control. They’re helpless to those forces – from Wall Street and the Patriot Act to the politicization of the Supreme Court to the three-card monte shell game of Obamacare and its politicization of your own body (nobody says that but if you cut to the chase that’s what’s going on ladies and gentlemen – Barack and Michelle seem determined to tell you how to maintain your own body through the exploitation of media and the implementation of political processes.)Being at the mercy of these forces is a feeling that is not a rich/poor thing. It’s not a black/white thing. There is so much money thrown into politics with so little conclusive results that genuinely make a difference that simple grace and human charity add up to a sucker’s game and a must-to-avoid fashion statement; and the inter-net blows seek-and-ye-shall-find-the-likeminded hot air around the room until you start to sweat and you have to take a freaking tweet just to relieve yourself!
So Michelle wants kids to get more exercise and you consider that “politicization of the body”? What would you say about them if they told women they should be forced to give birth to babies that are the product of rape? Talk about big government…
Try watching The Death of Mr Lazarescu to see where obamacare ends up. Great flick. It is not like what most people imagine government medicine to be. It is bad in a different way.
Good one!
whew. and amen.
I guess we really do live in two Americas, because this movie is truly vile to me. Dinesh D’Souza has been peddling conspiratorial garbage for years, and this is just his latest attempt to prey on racism and ignorance.
I can piece together quotes and interviews that will make you believe ANYTHING, and he found an audience willing to swallow it.
The right wing of this country is becoming a dangerous mob and this movie is a disgrace…
What people like you do is deplorable. You have not seen the film. Otherwise you would know that much of the film uses Obama’s own words both printed and spoken. My liberal friends found little to complain about.
Im really sick of everyone telling me ‘I haven’t seen the film’ just because I don’t believe it’s spin. I HAVE seen the film, and its pretty obvious its all conspiracy theories, sorry but if you watch it with an open mind you would realize its done in a way look to like an absolute argument, but it is not.
Just a few examples…
just because Dinesh is Indian and has a similar upbringing doesn’t mean that he has a unique perspective on Obama, just because he states this doesnt make it true.
Also its all great to point out Obamas fathers anti-colonial views, but what about the fact that Obama hasn’t seen his father since he was 10! and that was the first time since he was 2! So Obama never met his father at an age when he could understand politics let alone inherit them.
FYI I also didn’t completely believe Fahrenheit 9/11 either, I took it for what it was. Interesting, but not something I would give a lot of value or credibility.
Like Obama or not, if you really think he is purposefully ruining the country then you are crazy.
Connecting Obama to his father’s views are important because Obama wrote a book connecting himself to his father. You may believe or disbelieve the influence, but it is a valid argument and it is not conspiratorial. It is a theory that the president who wrote Dreams From My Father would be influenced by his father… Wow.. I’m such a hater
I have seen it and agree with the assertion : like him or not, you dont know him. Stop whining. Be scientific. Lazy thoughts on your part. His hypothesis was that everything he does is influenced by his anti 20th century colonialism. This translates to anti-British, America, capitalism and potentially judeao-christian. A hypothesis is to be proven wrong so a new one will work. Prove it wrong!? Frank davis, bill ayers, community agitation (organizer), returning churchill bust, break capitalist backs, take away superpower slowly (nuclear weapons= russian vp open mike “i will have more power to do things when reelected). This list goes on. Prove it wrong!!!!!!
fail. because you lie, you never saw the movie.
youre a liar.
Only saw him once when he was 10, you say? And this is meant to imply that his father is a tangential influence? Then shy did the man write a book that is titled in reference to and revolves around the guy?
This movie hasn’t even made $30 million. It’s a blip on the radar and one that really only appeals to the faction of the Republican Party that wants to see America fail just so that they can say they were right about Obama.
True patriots want America to grow stronger, regardless of what party is in command when it happens.
The only sound of reason of all the comments so far. Well done, College Student. Hope you run for office one day.
This movie explains why Obama wants to weaken America, not strengthen it.Obama is trying to model the US after Europe. Can’t he see Europe is falling apart?
The left wing of this country is becoming a mob and this movie is “genius”. You see how easy it is to parrot a LibTard? It takes no skill at all.
Given the sentiment expressed in your post, I would be interested to know your opinion on Michael Moore’s films.
I feel the same way about Michael Moore and Al Gore.
Elephant-in-the-room – So, did you see the movie?
If the Left can make factually incorrect docs, so can the Right.
Open the door to any of those theaters, and it’s Gremlins all over again.
Would be curious to know who reps these filmmakers… years ago AE repped Michael Moore for the Left and another filmmaker (whose name escapes me) from the Right who were going going back-and-forth.
If you want to see anti-Obama political attacks you can see them for free all day long on Fox News..why in the heck would somebody pay to see that stuff??
So then, I should switch to MSNBC and watch Chris Matthews?
Why is 2016 considered an anti-Obama filme? It is just about
his life.
I am with you 100%
Nice fat $26.2M gross for this movie. I guess Obama is helping the economy after all!
2016 is a forceful argument and it has the added benefit of being true. Dinesh has a gentle interview style and he just lets people talk. Much of the VO is Obama’s own voice as he reads his own book. People keep saying : vile, hateful, and racist, but no one argues with the facts.
Required viewing for the non- sheeple
The documentary showing across America titled ‘ 2016: Obama’s America ‘ provides a lot of insight into Obama’s influences in his life, and it is a must see film for all American voters. Obama supporters will, also, enjoy this documentary since it will answer a lot of questions about Obama’s early influences in his life and what his agenda will probably be in a second term if re-elected. I saw the documentary in Columbus, Ohio with a packed audience, and I was one of the older people (48) in the theater. Afterwards, most people applauded at the end of the documentary. If the documentary continues to play well in Ohio , it would not be a great sign for the re-election of Obama.
“since it will answer a lot of questions about Obama’s early influences in his life”
I don’t remember anyone asking who Bush’s early influences in life were. Or Clinton’s. Or Reagan’s. Why does it matter? I was influenced by Voltron and the Smurfs early in life, but it’s never come up at a job interview.
The fact that the conspiracy-stoking director thinks that even asking that type of question is relevant is why it’s offensive.
The only people offended by honest curiosity are the ones with dishonest intent.
Nice way to telegraph your deceptive character – and it’s only the really stupid people who don’t know their lying is totally transparent.
It’s important because Obama and his team have tried to get the media to hide ALL of his pre-presidency influences. We knew what those were for other presidents. But the media have been complicit in hiding Obama’s perspective.
This movie does nothing other than what the media ought to have done long ago. It is good journalism, carefully presenting the president’s own words and extensive interviews with those who have known him best for a very long time.
Anybody who claims it is racist or offensive has not seen it.
Obama wrote an autobiography. It’s title was “Dreams From My Father.” The movie is based on the book. You already know about Bush’s father. Why does it matter? It doesn’t really, except that Obama is a magnetic figure. Bush is not. Books and movies are written and made about lesser people than Obama, and you could ask similar questions about them too.
This documentary is unfortunately necessary and popular because the media failed to do any vetting of Barack Obama when he first ran for president. We all knew about Bill Clinton’s womanizing and George Bush’s alcoholism.
But we didn’t know the first thing about Barack Obama, except that he gave a great speech at the DNC in 2004. Many still don’t know why he does what he does.
The reason Bush’s or Clinton’s or Reagan’s influences were less significant in this context is that those influences were not anti-American. See the film, then decide for yourself. Otherwise you are merely parroting the words of others based on incomplete thoughts.
I just saw the film on PPV on cable. It was eye opening! If you don’t think the FACT that the president’s mentor is a card carrying member of the communist party is relevant, you are too strange. As a matter of fact, we do know a lot about all of the Bush’s. The FACT that the president’s spiritual counsellor, the man who married him, states “God Damn America” is very relevant.
Don’t try to hide it. Barak Hussein Obama has tripled the debt. He has said that Israel has to be controlled (Comment he chose to totally ignore in the debates every time it was brought up). All these things are FACTS whether you like them or not!
Too too sad…. Comparing this …. Comparing that … You don’t get it; the purpose for this film is to let the American people know “who is Obama ?” and they have succeeded their objective which the mainstream media fail to do. And to top it off they also having financial success doing it. To be the 2nd place political documentary in the country ( after this weekend 9/7-9/2012) & no or maybe a small budget for advertising expenditure but only word of mouth is unheard of. The showing to extended theater is no longer for profit but to give the American people around the country an opportunity to know who Obama really is before they cast their vote in Nov. As Michelle Obama said “Being president doesn’t change who you are, it reveals who you are”.
I wonder how Spielberg feels having one of his award winning colleagues attached to this film? I mean Steven even convinced Kathy Kennedy to support Clinton back in the day. No comment from him? Must be because he has a movie coming out about a revered Republican during an election year? Sticky.
I don’t why we keep on writing about this as a documentary, since most of it is fiction.
It’s speculative, but that’s not the same as fiction.
Since it quotes heavy from Obama’s book “Dreams of My Father”, I guess you are saying that is fiction too.
List for us the parts that are fiction and those that are fact! Betcha can’t!
This is most certainly not fiction. What are your credentials to make such an ignorant claim?
Funny, but those who have the most to say about the movie have yet to even see it. Typical sheeple! Why are the lefty’s so scared to actually learn something factual about their Liar in Chief?
So Research Guy, please point out all the points in this movie that are fiction.
Justin Beiber’s doc grossed $73 million domestically. Heck, even Katy Perry’s doc has grossed more than this in a very short run.
If anything it should be good news for Obama, GWB still won in ’04 after Moore’s 9/11 doc, this is doing far less business, I don’t see it as a threat to Obama’s second term at all, especially considering the director is a known conspiracy theorist.
Fact check alert. Your wild theory that Katy Perry’s documentary grossed more than this has been proven wrong by Box Office Mojo. 2016 has outgrossed Katy Perry’s documentary domestically already and will be far ahead of even Katy Perry’s worldwide gross by the time its box office run is done. 2016 is the 6th highest-grossing documentary now and will end up at #4 within a week or two. Even in adjusted dollars, 2016 is guaranteed to be the #4 all-time documentary (only needs to top $35,756,700 to get there).
its already topped an inconvenient truth – so to argue its not a success is ridiculous.
2016 is doing very well considering we had to drive 40 miles to view it even tho we are surronded by multi-theatre complexes! Wonder how far you had to drive to see Moore’s film?
If so true on gross $ for a Beiber or Perry documentry, sure clues you into the concept of modern minds eh?
GWB won because Americans thought he was more intelligent than Moore!
