I tipped this as one of the hot titles of this year’s Toronto Film Festival. The Dante Ariola-directed comedic love story is being sold by CAA and UTA and premieres here Monday. Colin Firth and Emily Blunt star in the story of a depressed divorced dad who fakes his death and adopts a new identity, then meets a troubled woman who spurs him on to new heights during a cross-country road trip. Becky Johnston wrote the script. Here’s an exclusive clip:

Editor: “What clip do you want me to use?”
Marketing pro: “Doesn’t matter. This movie is so good we can just grab any random moment.”
Yeah, “On second thought I think I will ride to Terre Haute with you” sounds a little precious, but not in a “that’s a good clip” way.
This looks promising. Can’t wait.
Wow. That was uninteresting.
nice to see he’s gotten over that stammer
Aren’t these people usually British?
this movie looks so good — that even if colin firth and emily blunt were not in it and were supplanted with non-marquee actors — it would still be hyped at TIFF and repped by CAA/UTA.
Wow. That may be the most boring film clip I’ve ever seen. That’s a “hot” Toronto clip?
Interesting to see this one. I was working on a script with the same hook and a road trip element too. Kept giving me trouble to get right and everyone said the hook was depressing and unsellable. Looks like the writer pulled off a great balance of pathos, comedy, and a little romance that made the hook actually work well. Maybe I should have tried harder to crack that one in retrospect.. haha. Love the cast too. Looks good.
As talented as these actors are, I’m not buying them as Americans
What, were all the American actors busy playing British roles in the UK?
