Hollywood promotional stunts can be clever. But every so often they backfire. Like this moronic one from BET whose promotional package caused two CBS-owned Los Angeles radio stations to temporarily suspend live local broadcasting. It necessitated the evacuation of their 27-story Miracle Mile office tower containing other media outlets as well as a stretch of Wilshire Blvd. Staff at news stations KNX and KFWB understandably freaked when a beeping package arrived and called the bomb squad. The package wound up containing clocks promoting BET’s upcoming late night talker Don’t Sleep with TJ Holmes. Hope the production reimburses LA emergency crews.

I remember that KCAL 9 had a scare a few years back.
show is gonna bomb anyways.
I think the morons are the ones who think that a bomb actually could look like that in 2012. I doubt they use “clocks’ anymore…especially BIG clocks..come on!
here’s the real deal on the clock, which is actually a good piece of swag.
The “tick” of the clock is a very slow tick. It doesn’t sound like a battery alarm clock. It’s more ominous — because it’s also a heavier sounding tick.
Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean someone from BET is not sending a bomb at you.
You and every other news outlet just gave this show and network a bunch free publicity. Even if they have to pay for the emergency crew, they come out on top
Who makes a bomb that beeps? Or ticks?
It’s a clock. Why call BET “moronic” for sending clocks? From the photo looks like a nice promo item.
Nice looking clock. The idiot who called the bomb squad should pay the emergency crew. I guess that means we can no longer produce clocks or anything that will set off someone’s paranoia. Better sorry than safe, I always say.
