Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz are likely to come back for at least one more season of Bones, executive producers Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan said today. “They are currently negotiating through Season 9,” Hanson said on a conference call. He added: “We’re pretty confident they’ll come to an agreement.” The contracts of the two leads are up after Season 8. Bones was renewed for its eighth season in March and season debuts on Fox on September 17.
In the spring, Boreanaz seemed to indicate he was leaving or negotiating a new deal in public when he tweeted about “new chapters and new doors” in his career. Boreanaz also said “I’m a free agent after this season. So the Bones farewell tour is in full-swing.” This morning, Hanson and Nathan played down any significance to the actor’s social-media outbursts. “David is a mischievous guy, he loves lobbying hand grenades out. It’s all part of the game to him; I don’t think there is any serious bile to it,” series creator Hanson said. “David loves the show; I think he wants to come back as much as we want him to come back,” Nathan said.
Deschanel and Boreanaz aren’t the only stars the producer discussed Tuesday. “I hope Billy Gibbons will be back, because that’s total fun for us when he plays Angela’s dad,” said Hanson of the ZZ Top guitarist, who guest stars as himself on Bones as the father of the Angela Montenagro character. “You know it’s only Season 8, we’re just beginning,” joked Hanson about what could come next.

All posturing and positioning for a big payday for a Boreanez Season 9. Considering I loved Angel… Amazing I only watched 2 episodes of Bones.
David should note features aren’t knocking down his door and THREEPEATS in series TV are a real rarity.
Better more BONES then guest shots on CSI: New York.
Interesting, didnt know you were his agent or knew what he has in his pipeline. I do agree, without both David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel, Bones is done.
Sometimes TV stars egos get big and they demand big paydays. They should just be happy to be on a show that has lots of fans and don’t play games with their paychecks. Besides the show has been on so long now that its run it’s course and can’t beleive it will last for much longer. It’s turned into a soap opera now with them having a kid. It was much better without the whole family thing.
he is lucky to have had long emplyment with Buff, Angel and now Bones. But manymanymany actors don’t get even one series. As a whole most actors are like running backs in the NFL, they have a short window to make their money before disappearing into obscurity.
This show is something awful. The first 3 seasons were brilliant and it rapidly went downhill after that. Put a fork in it.
I also think he should be VERY grateful for the show and his entire career. The role of Angel was supposed to be a one off in one episode of Buffy. JW saw the chemistry and boom – Angel was a main character. Then he got himself a successful spinoff. Bones has been very successful.
He needs to realize he has won the powerball – several times over. A movie career is not in the cards – “Valentine”‘ anyone? And the chances of yet another show? Well, I guess he has beaten the odds his whole career, but I still say a long shot.
Why the hate? Boreanaz has been on network tv for over 15 years straight, can you say the same? Jealous maybe? Let guy negotiate for bigger pay,why not, he has legions of fans, over 340K follow him on twitter. Hope he gets it and signs for several more years. I’ll be watching.
