EXCLUSIVE: WME has signed Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher. The agency will represent him in conjunction with Bryce Karger and Brenda Lundberg of Image Athlete Marketing and work to expand Urlacher’s brand globally through all areas of entertainment including film, broadcasting, scripted and non-scripted television, endorsements, and books. That is the path WME took with Michael Strahan, the former New York Giants defensive star who retired from the NFL in 2008 and slid into a chair on Fox NFL Sunday, then parlayed that into his latest gig as the new co-host of Live With Kelly And Michael. One of the game’s most popular players, Urlacher is an eight-time Pro Bowler was the 2005 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

This generations version of Brian Bosworth?
Are you kidding? Bosworth was a pro flop and failed in the movies as well. Urlacher is an all-pro destined for the Hall of Fame. Managed properly he’ll do very well once he retires from football.
Are they gonna get Urlacher for the “Stone Cold” Reboot?
Brian Urlacher is a much better football player and future hall of fame player.
Not by a long shot. Urlacher is a Hall of Fame slam dunk and one of the most feared and respected athletes in the NFL. Bosworth was a massive bust who couldn’t play a lick.
Brian Urlacher has the potential to be more like Dick Butkis or Iron Mike Ditka for commercials, etc. Great move for WME….and kudos to them and IAM for the masterful job with Michael Strahan’s post NFL career. Urlacher, like Butkis and Ditka, is a Chicago Sports icon who will only benefit from this astute move.
Sorry….My Bad…Dick BUTKUS!!
Of course, because everyone in Chicago knows Brian Urlacher as a talkative, affable fellow.
Haha. When the media got on Urlacher’s bad side by reporting on his divorce years back, he was certainly pissed off and stonewalled them for an entire season with one-word answers. But outside of that, he’s not a bad interview at all. He’s well spoken, articulate, clearly very smart and has a good personality. His most recent interview on AM1000 about his knee injuries was a good example of how I think he’ll be in the future. But everyone in Chicago loves him and everyone outside who doesn’t at least respects the name. He’s off to a good start.
That was a great year for post-game Q&A. Reminded me of the interview Ditka gave in New Orleans where the only answer that wasn’t one word was “Ask the Trainer”. I laughed all year.
Perfect post. Yeah, I wonder if the agents even know who he is? Probably not, they just know he’s a good football player with a shaved head. If you have seen Urlacher speak you know there’s zero chance of this working out.
Jon, nice point. He is an awesome linebacker, doesn’t have a “TV” personality. But this does make me wonder if he is thinking about life after being a football player. Maybe his knee is worse shape then first anticipated.
The only people who don’t like Urlacher are Packers fans. And Packers fans are just generally horrible human beings anyway.
