“I can’t explain it, but I knew when I opened that door something important happened”
“I wont let you go again”
“You ever think the universe was against you?”
Worst. Trailer dialogues. Ever.
I laughed out loud throughout this trailer. Ms. Berry’s & Tom Hanks’ acting is hilarious & Hanks’ wigs alone caused me to do a spit take.
Well, some days it does feel like the universe is against me.
“Well you did die twice trying to stay together, I would take that as a hint”… but on a different note Wachowski Bros… oops sorry The Wachowski Siblings do tend to go against the Universe…..
It is intelligent (amirite)that thou tells but is it that thou worked in the field of cinema? Thou hast already editing,a trailer,a film or create a film? Cloud atlas is a book friendly but complicated and I congratulate lana, andy and tom for having made this film
it should be very hard for them and for all the actors to play several characters.
congratulation!!!
This year’s Christmas turkey has arrived early. This stinker makes Speed Racer look a good film.
Have you seen it already?
Of course, he has. He caught a private screening in Toronto. And just last night, he viewed it at Tom and Rita’s house before heading into the night for intimate sushi with Halley Berry and the ghost of Norma Talmadge.
“Hey mom, I really zinged the CLOUD ATLAS trailer on Deadline.com!”
“What? Shut up, take out the trash.”
Funny yet effective point, Brian. Why the hell is there so much hate on the Wachowskis? Hey, don’t go see the damn movie if you’re so pissed off.
Nobody’s picking in the Wachowskis, most posts on the internet are bitter and angry.
I keep waiting for this to interest me. 2 trailers and nothing yet. It just seems muddled and empty. I don’t see what the buzz is about. Maybe the next trailer will do it. But not holding my breath
Most anticipated for the rest of the year. Bring it on!
that was, uh, one of the worst trailers i’ve ever seen. worst.
WTF was that? Trailer is bad but at least they didn’t have jayz music playing.
The first extended trailer was quite intriguing IMHO. Unfortunately, the others have gotten progressively worse. I don’t see how you can sell this kind of film in a 30 second TV spot.
Just because you CAN comment, doesn’t mean you HAVE to. The film has potential to be different/interesting/original. If you are commenting to say “worst”, you are wasting your time and ours. This will be one of the coolest films of the year… Know that.
I’m sorry. I read and liked the book but there is no way WB is making a profit on their $140 million dollar budget. Cool? Possibly. Self-indulgent? Probably. Mass appeal? Certainly not.
Then you’ll be glad to know WB didn’t foot the bill.
To anonymous: I would argue that Speed Racer was a damn fine adaptation of a strange and whacky source material. I guess you would have preferred some sort of Nolan-esque gritty modern take, but I think they created the perfect live action equivalent of a zany retro racing cartoon.
Speedy Racer was a gaudy, spiritless adaptation of a fun, cool and admittedly strange cartoon.
It is hard to do a trailer based on a movie with such big ideas. This is not a failure of the film necessarily but a failure of marketing ideas. When the film is too big to elucidate, you mystify. remember Anderson’s Magnolia or The Black Swann.
This could be a great film for all we know and I plan to see (the book is great). But as always I am fearful of Halle Berry’s lack of depth and reliance on her doe-eyed beauty.
Saw the movie last night. Absolutely terrible.
