EXCLUSIVE: In his first stab at development under his overall deal with ABC Studios, former The Office head writer Daniel Chun has sold two single-camera comedy projects, one to Fox and one to ABC. No Worries, which has received a script commitment plus penalty at Fox, centers on a serious man eager to settle down who realizes that his brother and everyone else his age is pushing off adulthood as long as possible. Chun’s ABC project is an untitled family show about an immigrant mother and her two grown-up, Americanized children who must learn to work together when they open a restaurant with the last of their money.
Under his pact with ABC Studios, which started in the summer, Chun also serves as a consulting producer on the ABC comedy Happy Endings, which is co-produced by Sony TV and ABC Studios. Chun, repped by UTA and Price Management, most recently served as co-executive producer/head writer on NBC’s Office and made his directing debut with an episode of the Emmy-winning comedy last spring. The Harvard grad segued to The Office after a six-year stint on The Simpsons. On the feature side, he is writing Guinness Book Of World Records for Warner Bros.

Head writer on the season The Office became unwatchable = 2 pilots. Awesome.
Why so bitter? Danny is a really talented, nice guy and, no, I’m not his agent. Congratulations, Danny!
Because it’s impossible for anyone to be nice on this board. Just nothing but angry failed writers and actors being snarky.
Yeah, seriously, I was a little suspect and blah about the whole Harvard grad thing, but, like the dude spent 6 years on The Simpsons. That is not handed to someone just because they graduated from an Ivy League school. This guy is legit in my book. Who gives whether the last season was weak on the Office.
the truth is the truth, his season of THE OFFICE was terrible. This sounds like a complete and utter waste. Great work ABC Studios. What a bunch of clowns.
He may be talented but how about coming up with some different ideas. these sound like every other project in development
Yeah, I just don’t see how it’s going to stand out in a field already crammed with immigrant family restaurant premises.
More man-boy material…
Yeah, that ain’t getting old.
I sense a Bitter Betty in the mix
He is a really talented, nice guy!
Have any of you been head hunted from The Simpsons to The Office and then signed a huge contract with ABC, all the while staying grounded and a great guy? No? Didn’t think so.
I once wrote a haiku that was turned into a greeting card for the blind. What does this guy have that I don’t???
