Everybody knows that Disney goes to great lengths to protect its brands. Now it’s moving into the United Kingdom, threatening a British indie production company with legal action over the packaging of its budget family DVDs – one of which is titled Braver. Look how similar the packaging looks to Disney/Pixar’s Brave set for release on Blu-ray and DVD on November 13th. Disney says they appear to be copycat versions of its own animated films. So Disney has sent a cease and desist letter to Brightspark Production Ltd, asking it to immediately withdraw the DVDs or face litigation, The Guardian reports.
“People place great trust in the quality and creativity of Disney, and when it appears that another company is causing confusion among Disney consumers we will act to protect ourselves and the consumer”, Disney said in a statement. Disney also says other Brightspark DVDs infringe its copyright, including Tangled Up, (Disney’s film is titled Tangled); The Frog Princess, (Disney’s The Princess And The Frog), and Little Cars, (Disney’s Cars). Brightspark says it is in discussions with Disney to find a “mutually acceptable” resolution.

That artwork is an exact rip off with the INTENTION of confusing consumers. Disney has a very strong case here.
Wow, that’s pretty brazen – not surprised if Disney sues over this…and wins – amazed they haven’t done it sooner?
Loved Braver — far better than the first movie!!!!
I find it hillarious how these people justify what they do, what self respecting animator would work on something that is designed to mislead customers.
Hacks that aren’t capable of being creative enough to have their own ideas.
Apparently this is a film from 2005 that was retitled with this bogus poster in the name of economic parasitism. Looks like they’re gonna get more than they bargained for.
Just like Disney “borrowed” the old TV cartoon Kimba the White Lion for the Lion King. They can do it but nobody does it to them!
They usually put these films in the Red Box during the films theatrical run to confuse little kids.I personally wouldn’t want my daughter to watch them. But who knows they may be good.
Asylum has been doing this for years. These guys just stepped it up a bit and tangled w the wrong brand ….out of court settlement at best
While Disney are not exactly my favorite people I have to say Im on their side with this one.
This film is actually a 2005 straight to vidio effort called `A Fairy-Tale Christmas` which this company has just renamed and repackaged in order to rip people off.
And this is just the latest in a long line of similar scams.
So go for it Disney, screw `em for every penny the`ve got!
