While DreamWorks initially flirted with the idea of The Hunger Games hunk Liam Hemsworth for the lead in its video-game adaptation Need For Speed. Now, they favor a discovery, and they are testing young actors Brenton Thwaites,
who stars opposite Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning in the Robert Stromberg-directed Maleficent, and Home And Away‘s Luke Bracey. We’ll let you know how it turns out.

I hardly think he “stars” opp Angelina Jolie – hes in 2 scenes in MALEFICENT!!! So much spin in this world and it all falls down when the lie catches up w people
Please don’t report who’s testing for roles. It’s not fair to the actors and is hardly newsworthy.
Come on, DreamWorks. The main character for the majority of the Need For Speed games is a faceless/nameless character called Player. So they have the opportunity to cast a wide net and look at Caucasian, Latino, Asian and even Black actors for this role. But instead it appears they’re just going to go with the typical pretty boy Caucasian actor.
And is this movie being filmed in Australia, or is it just a coincident that all three actors listed are Australian?
Has anyone seen any of their work? How are we judging just by a photo. Why all the vitriol! Angry American actors?
Gee, just great. Another batch of Australian random pretty boys playing
new American roles. I swear the sheep think mentality in this town is hilarious.
“Look! An Aussie was in a successful movie! We should cast Aussies in ALL male roles and all our films will succeed too!”
…and so the creative drought in Hollywood continues…
Yeah…just like Liam Hemsworth “starred” in The Hunger Games. Im not sure when 3 minutes of screen time got top billing? And if the second book is anything to go by , he’ll be lucky to have 5 minutes in that one! Publicity spins are funny things these days
I totally agree with Tanners comment about them being able to make a more interesting non caucasian choice. These dudes look boring. Interestingly one looks like a teen the other a man. So clearly some difference in age ideas here. I hope neither of them get it and they look at some more edgy original actors. I do however always agree with giving shots to undiscovered talent. Hemsworth is about an exciting prospect as porridge- and like someone else mentioned, his career is ALL hype.
