What was supposed to be a segment on how the U.S. unemployment rate among young people could hurt President Obama‘s support in that demo turned out to be open-mic night for aspiring comedian Max Rice. Appearing as a former Obama supporter-turned-Romney supporter on Fox News Channel‘s Fox & Friends this morning, Rice and co-host Gretchen Carlson combined for an awkward few minutes before Carlson got the hint that he wasn’t who she thought he was. Kudos to her for staying professional and trying to stay on topic, but what was the show booker thinking? “We are still examining the situation, but it will be addressed with the appropriate parties involved”, said Fox News’ EVP Programming Bill Shine. Here’s the exchange:

You tanked it, Brah. What a f***ing idiot.
Yeah, that could have been awesome. I was expecting Borat or Honey Boo Boo and boring. Major Boring.
Such a chance to do something fun here… Good effort though.
What was the show booker thinking, you ask? You try finding someone in that age range who supported Obama in 2008 that now backs the Right’s platform. I’ll wait…
Certainly easier to find a ton who will just stay home this year.
I loved it. I watch it this morning. It was a stupid topic and FOX got burned.
Sigh. So much fail on both sides of this exchange. Who was supposed to be vetting this guy before putting him on the air?
Talk about a wasted opportunity to do something funny….
HAHA! This would have never happened on “The Newsroom”
Millions have been duped into believing that Fox is actually a news channel.
So you think CNN and MSNBC are legitimate news channels!!!
Maybe not, but Fox n Freinds, and that particular “news” woman are the most bias I have ever seen. Fox and MSNBC are why 50% of Americans are independant IMO. We just want facts and truth, but Fox and others of that ilk are worthless in that regard.
So I’m guessing you’ve never caught Lawrence O’Donnell, Ed Shultz, or Chris Matthews then? That bunch gave up pretending to be balanced a long, long time ago.
Hah, NervisRex, you stepped into it there.
The key difference is that Fox still clings to the notion that they’re a fair and balanced news outfit. I don’t think any of the three you mentioned ever claimed they were balanced. And, by your own admission, if they did, they certainly don’t now. So who’s being honest here?
Not nearly as many who’ve been duped into thinking Obama is a good, qualified President.
Lamest comeback of the year.
He totally could have killed it on this segment but comes off just looking like a doofus. If he had some good lines prepared he would’ve made a huge career leap. Wasted opp.
Agreed. No personality or humour. Maybe public educations best.
The only good thing on Fox News in this entire election cycle. Huzzah, young man, huzzah!
I’m pretty sure the guy comes off worse than Fox News, who should fire whoever preinterviewed him. He’s an aspiring comedian? He wasn’t funny and he wasn’t even interesting, in an Andy Kaufman-type way. He just came off as an idiot who got on Fox and had no idea what to do.
Duped? That’s a far cry from duped, not very funny and hardly news worthy.
They don’t call it The Faux News Network for nothing!
What an f’n dumbass – he had the opportunity of a lifetime and he blew it with stupid antics and a “a duh” personality. Looked more like a college prank than anything else – and this guy is an inspiring comedian, no thanks! You blew it man!
FOXnews still looks like a bunch of tools, but ohhhh the possibilities… maybe next time with a much smarter person. Oh well.
Does she actually get paid a salary ?
I thought her saying, “Are you taking this seriously?” was pretty funny. I think if the person vetting the interview isn’t taking their job seriously and if a news program is purposely looking for someone to endorse a candidate, it would be impossible to take the interview seriously.
He picked an easy target, but failed.
Like a college guy getting beat up by an 8 year old who knows karate.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Faux Spews stupidity again revealed!
He is no K Strass
It was still funnier than anything I’ve seen on Leno.
So are most funerals. I watched the Leno show for the first time in five years and my only question: This is done by actual WGA members?
He had the potential to be witty and funny and make a few great points, and he flushed it down the toilet. This will do nothing for his comedy career.
Being clever and witty isn’t always the way to achieve comedy. Playing the doofus and throwing “Gretchen” for a loop was hilarious.
Best, most honest and genuine interview on Fox in ages. Regardless, still a majorly missed opportunity. Sooo many comedians would kill to have two minutes to punk the Queen of the Stepford Blondes.
