John Phillips and Ruben Fleischer have sold a comedy pitch to Fox through 20th Century Fox TV. Tentatively titled Starting Up, it is about two 20-something friends who quit their boring office jobs to form a startup company, but soon find themselves in over their heads as they try to juggle the challenges of adult life with running a company.
Kaplan Perrone Entertainment will executive produce the project which is based on an original idea from Kaplan Perrone. Phillips is a blacklist feature writer who recently sold his spec script Dirty Grandpa to Universal. Fleischer most recently directed Gangster Squad for Warner Bros set for an early 2013 release and is currently producing Two Night Stand. Fleischer also directed the features Zombieland and 30 Minutes Or Less. This marks Fleischer’s first project under the pod deal he signed with 20th TV in July. He is repped by UTA and attorney Warren Dern. Phillips is with UTA and Schreck Rose Dappello.
