Geoff Stults, the star of the Fox/20th TV Bones spinoff The Finder, is staying in the studio fold with a talent deal at 20th TV. Under the deal he is developing a multi-camera comedy as a starring vehicle for himself with his writing/producing partner Dave Whatley. Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment executive produces the project, which will be taken out later this month. If it doesn’t get ordered to pilot, the studio can cast him in an another project. In the near term, Stults will join 20th TV’s new comedy series for Fox Ben And Kate, playing a single parent and love interest for Kate (Dakota Johnson). His first appearance will be is the Halloween episode which airs October 30. “Geoff is a tall hunk of man who makes me laugh,” 20th TV’s head of casting Sharon Klein said. “He’s the ultimate ‘man’s man’ AND ‘ladies man.’ He’s a big TV star who proved he can anchor a show with his dry wit on The Finder.” Stults’ series credits have been mostly on the drama side, including October Road, in which he played the lead, and Happy Town, though he also did an arc on 20th TV’s CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother. In features, he appeared in the comedies Wedding Crashers and The Break-Up. Stults is with UTA and Thruline Entertainment.

This is a smart move. There’s something goofy about him that plays for comedy- it’s what he should stick to for sure.
Frank, I agree. Plus, he is incredibly charming , and he is a natural actor.
I’d also like to see the Bones/Finders peeps resolve The Finder’s cliffhanger on Bones. That cliffhanger depicted Willa, the gypsy-thief ward of Michael Clarke Duncan’s character, Leo (who was haunted by the murder of his own wife and daughter), running away rather than put Leo and Walter (Stults) in the crosshairs of Willa’s tribal leader Uncle Shad and the arranged marriage he’s ordered between her and her “cousin” Timo. That storyline had weaved its way throughout the entire series, with Duncan delivering a consistently great performance having to not just parent Willa but also be an ersatz parent to Walter and mediate between Walter and Willa. Walter finding Willa alive and getting the arranged marriage situation completely resolved would be a great tribute to both Duncan and his character.
Also, resolving the cliffhanger could only help possible DVD sales for the underrated show.
Congrats guys!
Rob J. – Hart Hanson says that he had planned on wrapping The Finder this season on Bones but put it on hold due to MCD’s health issues. Read the story at E! Online.
Good luck Geoff
I just found the Finder on Netflix and watched ALL THIRTEEN EPISODES IN 3 DAYS! What a great show!!! Please, Hart Hanson, PLEASE do produce a resolution to the Cliffhanger Boy with the Bucket! The current ending left me totally depressed and longing for the following episode to find out what happened to Walter, Isabel and Willa. What a bummer to have no real ending to this series!!!
