New ‘Man Of Steel’ Television Spot #6
Can’t wait! Is that the brilliant David Oyelowo in the voice over?
Don’t you just look at this and think, Well, of COURSE it should have been Daniel Day Lewis?
Wow – a trailer for the trailer. Have our attention spans become that challenged? I worry someone will think the actual trailer is a short film.
Our attention spans are fine, but some of our fact-checking could use some work. It’s been long known Spielberg is making a “premiere” out of the trailer. It’s pretentious as hell, but has nothing to do with the public.
That’s not a teaser, that’s a google ad.
Sorry but unless he’s shown hunting vampires nobody will go see this. Audiences want to see Lincoln as an action hero. Have him hunt werewolves or some other kind of supernatural creature that is how you make the big money you have to do a mash-up to get the teenagers. Spielberg must know he needs to incude these extra special effects scenes. Vampires! Werewolves! Zombies! Ghosts!
Except that Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter tanked… back to the drawing board, my friend…
Dear Sir:
Our heroic 16th President did many notable things in his life but he never chased after mythical monsters. For you to suggest that a world renowned film director of Steven Spielberg’s caliber should insert fictitious scenes of Abraham Lincoln chasing after vampires in what is sure to be an Oscar-worthy film is truly disgraceful. Lincoln saved the union and freed the slaves. He was assassinated by a Confederate coward John Wilkes Booth. Dracula had nothing to do with what happened according to all reputable history books.
Sincerely,
He was JOKING People…geeeeez
I think the guy was being sarcastic, perhaps too subtly.
Yes. Absolutely. More explosions too.
Well, i at least got that you were joking. Hope that makes you feel better.
I agree,…even though I think you’re an idiot, “college history major”…
Wow, that really didn’t sound like Lincoln. To young and modern.
That’s because it’s not. It’s the actor David Oyelowo.
You’ve heard Lincoln speak?
Interesting choice, to have the obvious speech delivered by a different character. Like it!
If Churchill was played by an American Actor, their would be riots in the streets of London.
What happened hollywood? Come on. Can’t you find anyone man enough or good enough to step up to the plate. I’d laugh it wasn’t so sad.
I felt the same way….this clip makes it look awful. And Spielberg is the LAST director in Hollywood that should be directing this film. He’s so heavy handed, and treats his audience as if they’re at a screening of ‘Goonies’.
This will be on video faster than ‘The Adventures of Tin Tin’!
Well, Meryl played Margaret Thatcher and the Brits didn’t seem to mind.
I’ll bet he Brits wouldn’t care who played Churchill.
Churchill’s mother – Jennie – was American. He was half American.
FWIW, I caught the joke, college history major.
Why didn’t Spielberg tell FOX to wait on their idiotic Lincoln Vampire Hunter movie? Steven could have easily pressured them to keep the Vampire Hunter script on the shelf for an extra year so his historic Lincoln movie could open first.
FOX would have been upset but there’s no way they would have told Spielberg they are going to make a stupid movie that could hurt his movie. Steven should have told them to give him as much time as he needed. They are depending on him for Robopocalypse so they would have done whatever he told them to do.
KASEM- Re: Voice Over
I think this is Day-Lewis’ voice. Can’t speak to the “modern” part, but the sound may well be more history-accurate. Lincoln was known for having a higher-pitched voice than people might suspect.

Dude, that is not DDL talking in the voiceover, it’s David Oyelowo. Come on now.
—-Surprised. He’s NOT convincing.
Meanwhile, we ask —WHY ANOTHER LINCOLN flick?
—That Hollywood cultural incest issue REALLY is getting to be a problem.
The Lincoln mania is due to the 150th anniversary of various Civil War events. I don’t object to Lincoln but I’d like to see other Civil War related TV shows and movies. It was not just about one guy!
Godawful! Even “Mr. Lincoln” at Disneyland is better than this trailer.
And if I hear any more film scores with this kind of piano score, I’m going to scream. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh….
