He may be a business partner with Bill O’Reilly on their upcoming pay-per-view debate, but Jon Stewart last night blasted O’Reilly’s network for its coverage of the aftermath from the secretly recorded video of Mitt Romney stating that he doesn’t expect 47% of the country, who “rely on government support”, to vote for him. In a segment titled “Chaos On Bullshit Mountain”, the Daily Show host ripped Fox News hosts and pundits for going to great lengths to defend Romney’s comments:
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

Wow, what a surprise that little Jonnie doesn’t like the fact that lot’s of people agree with Romney’s assessment of the 47% Situation, including several commentators on FOX NEWS. Jonnie wants to trash Mitt nightly and a lot of folks just don’t buy into his biased viewpoint. Whaaaa!
Apparently, many people agree with Mitt because the race remains neck-and-neck. Maybe Jonnie can cry on Colbert’s shoulder for comfort.
Stewart’s critique was spot on in regards to how hypocritical they are over at fox “news” And given the economy, even the GOP admits it shouldn’t be “neck-and-neck.” The fact that Romney is not further ahead speaks to the weakness of his candidacy and the fact that the majority of voters still know exactly who shoulders most of the blame for our financial woes (and it’s not our current president).
Sorry, I saw the words “fact” and FOX NEWS in the same sentence and I tuned right out. Force of habit!
@ Maximum security : you lost all credibility when you said several commentators on Fox news agree with Mitt. Of course they do…they are also his advisers.
Latest poll is an 8 point lead for Obama. Also, Stewart hits the nail on the head regarding the hypocracy of Fox News. C’mon man, watch the video before commenting.
What poll you reading? Likely right after the convention, but not now. It’s dead even.
It’s really not. You seem to be as reliant on facts as Faux News.
Well, Max, you missed the point. Stewart aptly noted that Faux News will use a standard to defend Romney (i.e., “it’s an old video), and then conveniently forget that standard when they want to vilify Obama (i.e., “we have a video from 1998…”). They contradict themselves whenever it suits their purpose. Stewart rightly shows them for the hypocrites they are.
As for people agreeing with Romney, most polls that I’ve seen don’t take it that way…some people don’t like Obama, and that’s why Romney is getting a few votes.
Life: you’re doing it wrong.
It’s okay. Less people watch Stewart and Colbert then they do Basketball Wives.
People like you sadden me… the truth can’t come out…
Learn the proper use of the word less. Pinhead.
John Stewart regularly takes BOTH sides, and all of the networks, to task for hypocrisy. Yes, he’s obviously left-leaning, but he is usually right on with his attacks.
And those that agree with Romney’s assessment should take a long look at themselves. It’s shocking that so many of Romney’s supporters call themselves Christians but seem to have absolutely no concept of what Christianity is supposed to be.
Lot’s? What is that word?
The 47% Situation? Is that a new character on Jersey Shore?
Embarrassing…
I will bet my life that Jon doesn’t do a bit on Obama’s redistribution tape that was put out two days ago. And guess what, you are not entitled to “roofs,” “medicine,” and “food.” It is the pursuit of happiness, not the guarantee of it.
Most western governments figured out long ago that it’s cheaper and easier to make sure the poor have the necessities of life than it is to battle them in the streets or lock them up in jail. If people don’t have food, do you think they’re just going to politely go away and die?
You’d think that that would be obvious by now.
FOX News drives the liberal loons crazy. Love it.
BTW did you see where MSNBC BEAT Fox in the demo ratings?
Yeah, a couple times or so. But Fox is still pretty dominant, overall, and usually in demo as well.
CNN’s got troubles.
Fox News only bothers liberals because we’re confused by anyone taking such blatant nonsense as truth.
Though if your email is any indicator, there’s a whole segment of people that not only don’t mind being treated as if they ride on the slow bus, but revel in it.
Whatever works for you.
He ripped FOX….again. What else is new.
@Maximum Security: I thought convicted felons weren’t allowed to vote, so what’s it to you?
I’m sure Jon is just as distressed that NOT ONE mainstream media outlet reported on the Obama “I believe in redistribution” tape.
Indeed, it is shocking that Obama once touted the same tax distribution policies as famous socialists Eisenhower and Nixon. All the media outlets should get on that. Secret Muslim president touts Nixonesque tax distribution policies! Next step: Moscow 1980!
Yet, I’m right. And that bias should bother you.
Redistribution just means taxes. No one but the most extreme conservatives and libertarians think that there shouldn’t be taxes.
