Larry David has finally lifted the veil of secrecy on his upcoming movie for HBO. It will be titled Clear History, and, along with the long-rumored Jon Hamm and Michael Keaton, its cast will feature a slew of other big names. Joining star David will be Bill Hader, Kate Hudson, Phillip Baker Hall, Danny McBride, Eva Mendes, Amy Ryan, Curb Your Enthusiasm standout JB Smoove as well as Hamm and Keaton.

Clear History, which David co-wrote with Alec Berg, David Mandel and Jeff Schaffer, centers on Nathan Flomm (David), a former marketing executive at a start-up electric car company who, after losing a fortune due to a petty argument with his boss (Hamm), is publicly humiliated for walking away from his 10% of a company now worth billions. Ten years later, his marriage over and reputation ruined, Nathan has changed his identity and lives a simple life on a small island off the coast of Massachusetts under the new name of Rolly DaVore. But when his former boss shows up to renovate his summer mansion, Nathan vows to seek revenge and drive his nemesis off the island.
Hader will play Rags, the friend and henchman of a local quarry owner who agrees to help Rolly settle an old debt. Hamm will play Will Haney, founder of the electric car company who has a contentious relationship with Flomm, his head of marketing. Hall will play McKenzie, the foreman of a local construction project who is duped into hiring Rolly and soon begins to regret it. Hudson will play Rhonda, the glamorous wife of Flomm’s arch-rival, with whom Rolly strikes up a special friendship. Keaton will play Joe Stumpo, the erratic and eccentric operator of the island’s quarry. McBride will play Frank, a local denizen and best friend to Rolly. Mendes will play Jennifer, a local resident who takes an off-handed suggestion from Rolly a bit too seriously, causing Rolly no end of trouble. Ryan will play Wendy, Rolly’s the ex-girlfriend whom Rolly discovers has been hiding an explicit secret since before they dated. JB Smoove will play Jaspar, the ex-boyfriend of a local girl who blames Rolly for the demise of his relationship. The film is slated to shoot this fall in Massachusetts.
Greg Mottola is directing and will executive produce with Bradley Thomas, Berg, Mandel and Schaffer. Monica Levinson is a producer; Laura Streicher is associate producer.

I’d always sort of hoped they’d put Michael Keaton on an episode of Curb; for some reason I think him and LD getting into a petty spat would be hilarious.
Keaton has been on curb a few times… he plays a tv director that larry gets annoyed with all the time and Keaton is the reason larry has to goto ny in the most recent season of curb
You’re thinking of Michael McKean.
You are thinking of Michael McKean. Michael Keaton has not been on Curb as yet.
That’s Michael McKean. Keaton has never been on Curb.
Sounds cool.
This is a Woody Allen style movie. They should call it “Prognosis Negative” this might be the only movie Larry ever does and that title has always been his favorite he used it in a Seinfeld episode but we never got to see the movie.
Wont be LD’s first movie…previously made the movie Sour Grapes…
I know i’m in the minority here but I liked SOUR GRAPES

Grudge sort of scans with “curmudgeon” and if all the elements congeal properly, this ought to be a howl.
I think Sour Grapes would be a good candidate for a remake with a better cast and better director.
I don’t mean to start an argument or rile any feathers, but the casual and misleading use of the term “all-star” is becoming more frequent here, and it’s not right. Ocean’s Eleven had an all-star cast. Contagion, New Year’s Eve, Nine, even The Expendables 2 arguably had all-star casts. This is a bunch of familiar faces, none but one (Kate Hudson) of which have ever proven they can be a box office draw and open a theatrical release. Maintain the value of the term by saving it for valid moments!
Not that he’s been a draw in over two decades, but Michael Keaton has proven that he can (again, in the past) open a theatrical release.
LD still needs to do “Rochelle, Rochelle”.
No one could do justice to “a young girl’s strange, erotic journey from Milan to Minsk” like Larry David.
Please HBO, green-light this project!
“I’d always sort of hoped they’d put Michael Keaton on an episode of Curb; for some reason I think him and LD getting into a petty spat would be hilarious.”
Genius idea. Amazing how easy it is to see that in the mind’s eye.
Wow that really is an all-star cast! And they got Kate hudson too.
This doesn’t say what the genre is. I’m assuming it’s comedy with David’s dark twist. In any case, I look forward to seeing it. Curb’s last season was its best.
Uh, toons… Michael Keaton has never been on Curb. What are you talking about?
Excited to see Jon Hamm in this!
Larry David is easily one of the funniest men on the planet
It’s being shot at a beautiful local, Gloucester, Mass. EasternPoint to be exact. Larry David should check out the TarrWonson Paint Factory down RockyNeck for a great place to shoot. It’s an abandoned 150yr old marine paint factory that juts out into Gloucester Harbor. I’m the caretaker . it’s a way awesome and scary building.Look forward to seeing u all in Gloucester.
They are filming at the North Shore Music Theater, Beverly today.
I saw them filming today at the Topsfield Fair. The two scenes consisted of a dart balloon game and heckling a dunk the clown. The were both within 4 yards and very exciting to watch the actors at work. Kate was breathtaking with her beauty and grace and David had real presence. I look forward to seeing this movie.
I just want to see Larry in an intense love scene! I think he would bring it! I really think he could bring it! C’mon Larry – bring it!
This movie is being filmed in Woburn, MA today!
